Reno Harley Lws
« on: February 14, 2020, 10:52:35 PM »

In case anybody here is interested.

I was at the Harley shop here in Reno yesterday getting a free 15 KW CCS charge on my Energica, after a ride to and back from Genoa, NV.

They have  two LWs, one orange and the other black. The black one has been a demo and they reduced the price by thousands of dollars. Down to around 25K$ or so, IIRC. It has around 300 demo miles on it.

At that price I would have considered a Livewire if I didn't already have my Ribelle on order.

Unfortunately, the lack of a true L2 charger is big negative for me. I get 5 hours of free L2 charging at work. That's enough to fully recharge my SS9 from 0% if needed and I would imagine it's enough to get a significant recharge done on the Ribelle.

5 hours at a 110v rate probably wouldn't make it worth my time to plug in at work and I would likely have to use the paid DC charger across the street at the mall instead every day.

Yep, and I  used Level Two charging just yesterday in Genoa. See my bike  on Plugshare here.

BTW, last night I modified a Level Two NEMA 14-50 charge cable setup to be much shorter and also have adapters to use on 120 VAC as well as 240 VAC. It now all fits in my SS9 Saddle bag. So now on the road, I can charge my SS9 from 120 VAC & 240 VAC outlets, Telsa Destination chargers as well as J1772 & CCS.

Yeah, to not have at least a  3KW charger on a 30K$ motorcycle is ridiculous, IMO.

The LW slow charges even on L3 at 12 KW. The Harley Chargers only go to 15 KW. So My SS9 charges faster on the Harley CCS charger than does the LW. And twice as  fast on other CCS chargers.
