Title: Zero Fx wheels
Post by: gman669 on October 06, 2015, 08:12:18 AM
I just got a Zero FX. I was wondering if anyone has bought an extra set of wheels through Zero or another aftermarket company? How much did you pay? I would like to have a set of good knobbies for dirt riding since I do 95/5 riding but hate having limited traction in the dirt when riding with friends that all have knobbies on their bikes.

I bought my FX with S Wheels already installed.
My understanding is that the wheels themselves
are rather inexpensive when compared to ICE brands.
I did purchase a spare wheel and tire from Harlan
at Hollywood Electrics for a very reasonable price.
I would suggest contacting him / them as your first
attempt at locating one / a pair.

As of 2 weeks ago, the '15 FX rear wheel (no pulley or brake rotor) was $289.   I've also gotten a 2.15x19 rim from Harlan, which I hope to use at some point.

You might consider a Kenda K270 or Metzeler Karoo 2 front tire for both street & dirt, and just swap the rear wheel out for dirt rides.  I'm a 5% street / 95% dirt rider so they weren't ideal for me, but they were both decent in the dirt and excellent (for dual-sport tires) on the street, even when leaned over.  You might also try a 5.10-18 K270 on the rear.

IMO true knobbies that work really well in the dirt are unacceptable on the street, except for short distances to get to the riding area.

My local dealer came back with 289 for the rear and 296 for the front. For everyone's future information
