Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Front tire for 2016 Zero DSR
« on: March 30, 2018, 03:03:48 PM »
Came out of my afternoon meeting to find a very low front tire on my 2016 DS. After meandering down the hill only to find the gas station air pump OOC, I bought a fix-a-flat at the auto parts store. Was later told the shop can’t fix my flat now because the fix glue won’t adhere to the spray sealant.

Went to jpcycles.com to order 2-day Cont Attack 2 replacement and got a confirmation that it shipped only to inquire today and be told that it has to go to the KY warehouse in order to ship to “international” locations, aka Hawaii.[emoji34]

Called Hollywood Electrics and they referred me to Jakewilson.com or Revzilla. Went to the former, found the same tire for cheaper and still got 2-day shipping. (Hope I didn’t just jinx myself, but want to replace my tire before work travel takes me out of the country for most of April.) 🤞🏼it shows up on Monday.

Schuberth C3 Pro in high visibility yellow to match my Olympia one piece yellow riding suit. Just submitted it to Schuberth for warranty replacement of the chin skirt (peeling) and top vent bracket mount (cracked after cleaning). Plus, they just started a loaner program this year for daily riders!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: How to stop charging below 100%

A quick google search finds discussions of setting the threshold, Keith:

'Select "Edit" from the main Devices screen in the App. You can then change the standby threshold to your requirements.'

Scope, what value were you able to set?  Can it be in the hundreds of watts?
I let it auto detect and it came up with 2W. I use it because Zero recommended not leaving it plugged in after a complete charge.

I use a WeMo Insight switch with an IFFF rule to shut off power once consumption drops below threshold.

Nice.  More details, please?  Screenshots or something?

Get the top case frame mount and latch it there--plenty of attachment points.

Or sell it here, I got rid of mine at the forum.
How much did you list it for and what was final offer price? If you don't mind sharing.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DS tank enclosure form
« on: December 13, 2016, 09:55:50 PM »
I upgraded to the Power Tank on my 2016 DS prior to moving to Hawaii. For some reason my dealer gave me the original tank enclosure orange (plastic) form with the tank bag insert. Now that we're unpacked, it's a cumbersome piece of unnecessary material taking up space in the garage.

Does anyone know of a use for it or have a recommended destination for where it might become useful?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Questions about my new 2013 FX :)
« on: November 18, 2016, 11:12:09 PM »
Hello everyone,

I took delivery of my 2013 FX last night around 6:30. Looks pretty good but I do have a few things to look at a couple small repairs. A few questions to start... This is my first bike and experience with Zero so I am a new with this.

1. When moving at slow speed, I can hear something on each revolution. I don't know if this is related to the tires or the electric motor. It sounds like what I would expect brake pads rubbing would sounds like as it picks up when speed increases. After around 20 mph+ the sound seems to go away completely so I was starting to think this may be related to the motor and normal, but it could be wind noise drowning it out or just going too fast to pick up each revolution. When rolling the bike while turned off, I put my ear next to each wheel but couldn't hear anything rubbing. When pushing it, it seems quiet. Is this normal?

2. What PSI do you guys recommend for the tires? I noticed the front tire was definitely a little low.

3. Brake light assembly was busted including the reflector inside. Any insight on where to get this replacement part?

4. Front suspension when pushed down sounds like something is making contact. Making a little noise. I feel like something may just be in the way somewhere and two things are just hitting each other but I haven't found it yet. Does this experience ring a bell with anyone?

5. The seller forgot to send the charge plug and is looking for it to send to me. It arrived with 1/2 charge and I rode it around for around 25 minutes to get the hang of it. In case they don;t come up with the charger, can you advise where I might find one that is compatible. I have a zero dealer a couple hours away.

That is all for now, thanks for any insight.

Alex

Someone previously mentioned www.monoprice.com on this forum and I had great luck getting extra power cables in various lengths there, for cheap prices!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / PIAA Fog lights on the front fork?
« on: July 16, 2016, 01:32:19 PM »
So, in the similar vein of mods I made to my boxer-engine Beemer for cagers' awareness, I bought some PIAA LED fog lights and associated brackets. Then the sales guy says his parts guy quit on him and I'm left holding the proverbial bag with no insight as to where to connect the wires. Any help from forum members appreciated!

A train horn makes people look (again, if not the first time). That's half the battle. I've had drivers drop their coffee, cell phones, and change-lane intentions with a crack of the horn.

I had the Stebel Nautilus compact on my BMW 1150RT, even before the a-hole side-swiped me in his pickup truck on purpose (admitted in court because he thought being a firefighter he could get away with it).  Loved that horn and used it almost every day in D.C.

Now that I'm in Oahu, Hawaii, I've hit the horn once.  And promptly felt like I left my pair on the side of the road, along with the lane intruder forcing me to maneuver and not once giving me a second thought.  Then, I got the daily Gizmag email talking about the newest Screaming Banshee evolution being 40% smaller and NO RELAY necessary to power the 25A dual-tone horn. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/846667950/shockwave-the-first-smart-motorcycle-warning-syste)

Just ordered it, but you've only got 5 days left so get it soon.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: OEM Rain Guard available
« on: July 06, 2016, 04:25:00 AM »
The two wide tabs attach to the back of the license plate support, using the bolts that go through the top holes of the plate. For the holes on the opposite side, there are two phillips head screws under the tail. Remove those - you are then going to put the white spacers in the kit in the holes and, using the supplied long screws, secure the rain guard. I added washers to the underside of the rain guard before inserting the screws. If you don't have the reflector assembly off yet, as you might have guessed you have to rip off the back reflector to get to the three screws holding the old part. You reuse those screws. It took me about a day to figure out which end was which and I think less than an hour to have everything done and cleaned up.

"Thank you" (Mahalo) to you and BrianTRice for the help.  Got it installed this weekend along with changing out the temp tag for a Hawaiian license plate and associated motorcycle safety inspection sticker plate.  Now, to wait 60-90 days for my custom tag: 1FUNEV!

:(  So, new guy here and glad I found this site.  (Had followed a similar one for my VW TDIs but hoping those will go by the wayside here soon; the MINI one will remain in the scan.)

I took a shot at installing the OEM rain guard last night and cannot figure out where the two screws go after I figure out how to remove the existing reflectors and the assembly under the tail.  Per chance, does anyone have a diagram / instruction sheet for assembly?  My original dealer was very much less than helpful, and the "other" dealer is less than helpful.

Plus, I'm in Hawaii, so I can't go down to the dealer anywhere near.
