Finally after many months of despair regarding my DSR 2016 with only 4600miles

Bike is in N Germany

Faulty bike for sale Spares or repair - Project

The story why:-

The bike is out of warranty I fully understand, however-
Intermittent problems with it from lights failing and charging inconsistencies, dealer in the UK saying they found a fault and corrected (suspect the intermittent problem was on a ‘ok’ moment) resulting in while in Portugal the bike suddenly stopped, no power at all, just dead.
(luckily for me in a car park- otherwise, on the road , I dread to think what might have happened) finding a dealer with knowledge of diagnostics is like finding hen’s teeth support from Zero - (or lack of from the manufacturer Zero) no replies from them- go to a dealer- With respect to the dealers I contacted most were very helpful but had very limited knowledge of any diagnostic other than plug the OBD in and see which, as I had to explain, only works if there is power from the battery. I searched for a dealer from forums and remembered L Otten who manufactures fast chargers for Zeros so I contacted them to arrange for diagnostic as I was in Portugal I shipped it to him  in N Germany.

He originally offered to diagnose for a fixed price to determine the faults while contacting Zero, which I understand he has a good relationship with.
The first diagnosis was the battery pack output is okay with 80% charge
The MBB is faulty and probably the DC-DC . Negotiations with Zero he eventually received the two units which on connecting found that the bike still did not work, a further fault was found in the battery pack itself meaning there seems to be a fault in the battery pack itself. There is trapped badly routed cables.
Investigating further apparently with Zero it was discovered the wiring inside the sealed pack was damaged by testing the varying output voltages from the ribbon cabling.

The dealer tells me that Zero is not responsible for the battery despite an apparent manufacturing fault and they would gladly sell me a new battery for 7k plus the two modules at approximately 500 each
The battery pack is faulty which blew the MBB and DC-DC after many intermittent problems probably related to the battery pack spiking as internal wiring to the low DC output was faulty. Electronic components do require voltage stability.

A lot of rhetoric have been rallied around regarding ‘new’ technology and therefore excuses poor and deficient quality control

At least in my case a low mileage vehicle although out of warranty with a fault possibly known by the manufacturer - be careful what you buy and from whom-

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Dead '16 DSR low volt + MBB fuse blows
« on: December 10, 2021, 09:57:01 PM »
Hi,
my2016DSR no longer powers up the MBB fuse blew (4A abc) diving no power anywhere on the 12v side ( that i know how to test) checking other fuses this was the only one blown. upon replacement of the fuse there was still no power and rechecking the fuse had blown again, I rechecked other fuses and the Low power module (under seat on left) was also blown.
I need some help diagnosing my next move.. MBB failure? Replacement possible without going to a main dealer?
I live in southern Portugal my nearest dealer seems to be Spain

some history -
had intermittent power faults - lights often not coming on etc. power to motor and dash OK. checked on here for solutions, referencing ground wire or Connection problem. I checked a few suggestions initially suspecting the ignition switch, sometimes the power came on after ignition had been on for a few minutes.

The bike always was ridable (even without lights) until now..

Quiet time, staying in finishing my charger project
6.6kW charger from Otten , hard wired to a 3-phase mennekes  giving 6.6 + the Calex
Wiring a ss relay to enable the Calex when on single phase - handy so the Bluetooth works to check status

As there is no 12v permanent supply meaning I either leave it keyed on or only charge on 3.3kW , I will install a power bank from a phone which will be charged from the accessory via a usb converter.
Getting 4.7kW so far

Testing seems ok from the first impression
