Buy Sell Trade / Re: Dead 2016 Zero DSR for sale-Germany

I have seen posts with that arrangement.
My pack is wired with both chargers bolted together with cooling fans attached fitting inside the tank space with fused cables attached to connect to the controller battery terminals directly .
You could easily reconfigure the pack to suit your own preferences. If you have an extra battery pack in that space for example

Hi,
It’s really designed for permanent installation in a top box or side box is possible but permanently connected. 6.6kW needs to be connected directly to the terminals

I’m not selling in parts, only as a complete project.
Thanks

Indeed, short warranty and slow supply with poor customer service. Doesn’t give confidence or ‘eco friendly’ 😐

Hi,
Yes I looked into KWS and their prices seem good with the 2year warranty- need a dc- dc and an mbb to adding to the cost though- can’t really invest so much.
Maybe a solar project for later and sell the bike parts, battery would work with a management system.
If I could find a damaged bike with the battery intact i would be interested
Suggestions welcome,
Thanks
Kevin

Hi Jürgen,
Thanks I have contacted them and although their pricing is better than a new Akku I am not sure I can afford it as I need a new Mbb and DC-DC as well at around €900

How do I prove the defect without an independent engineer?
A visual inspection shows crushed cable according to Mr. Otten , without disassembling the pack  to show the faulty cable routing and subsequent damage.
I’m travelling in the North of Germany at the moment the price is above 4K if anyone is interested- new tyres spare belt

Finally after many months of despair regarding my DSR 2016 with only 4600miles

Bike is in N Germany

Faulty bike for sale Spares or repair - Project

The story why:-

The bike is out of warranty I fully understand, however-
Intermittent problems with it from lights failing and charging inconsistencies, dealer in the UK saying they found a fault and corrected (suspect the intermittent problem was on a ‘ok’ moment) resulting in while in Portugal the bike suddenly stopped, no power at all, just dead.
(luckily for me in a car park- otherwise, on the road , I dread to think what might have happened) finding a dealer with knowledge of diagnostics is like finding hen’s teeth support from Zero - (or lack of from the manufacturer Zero) no replies from them- go to a dealer- With respect to the dealers I contacted most were very helpful but had very limited knowledge of any diagnostic other than plug the OBD in and see which, as I had to explain, only works if there is power from the battery. I searched for a dealer from forums and remembered L Otten who manufactures fast chargers for Zeros so I contacted them to arrange for diagnostic as I was in Portugal I shipped it to him  in N Germany.

He originally offered to diagnose for a fixed price to determine the faults while contacting Zero, which I understand he has a good relationship with.
The first diagnosis was the battery pack output is okay with 80% charge
The MBB is faulty and probably the DC-DC . Negotiations with Zero he eventually received the two units which on connecting found that the bike still did not work, a further fault was found in the battery pack itself meaning there seems to be a fault in the battery pack itself. There is trapped badly routed cables.
Investigating further apparently with Zero it was discovered the wiring inside the sealed pack was damaged by testing the varying output voltages from the ribbon cabling.

The dealer tells me that Zero is not responsible for the battery despite an apparent manufacturing fault and they would gladly sell me a new battery for 7k plus the two modules at approximately 500 each
The battery pack is faulty which blew the MBB and DC-DC after many intermittent problems probably related to the battery pack spiking as internal wiring to the low DC output was faulty. Electronic components do require voltage stability.

A lot of rhetoric have been rallied around regarding ‘new’ technology and therefore excuses poor and deficient quality control

At least in my case a low mileage vehicle although out of warranty with a fault possibly known by the manufacturer - be careful what you buy and from whom-

I disconnected al modules with good fuses, then reconnected each checking fuses as I continued, key on then off each time . All okay except the one MBB plug which blew the low + fuse . I cannot find a pin out of the voltages I can expect from the plug detached (as photo)

Update , disconnected control cable to dc-dc, Replaced fuses in Mbb and low volt unit, the low volt fuse blew immediately, without keying on!
Seems serious, expensive. From your diag flow chart can I assume the BMS is faulty or has potentially caused the Mbb to fail too .

Thanks Auriga,
Silly question from me, locating sim spare fuses to test as suggested.

Thanks for the reply Auriga
Is there any way to test if each module functions before replacing each? I can carry out the work myself except the programming of modules where necessary, however living in Portugal there aren’t any experienced dealers here and getting parts will be a very slow process, otherwise ordering every module to test sequentially would be costly.
I can only perform continuity checks and basic multi-meter testing but have the time to strip and replace.
I hope someone on this forum has access to wiring layouts or perhaps a workshop in Europe to assist or even repair my bike.

Hi,
my2016DSR no longer powers up the MBB fuse blew (4A abc) diving no power anywhere on the 12v side ( that i know how to test) checking other fuses this was the only one blown. upon replacement of the fuse there was still no power and rechecking the fuse had blown again, I rechecked other fuses and the Low power module (under seat on left) was also blown.
I need some help diagnosing my next move.. MBB failure? Replacement possible without going to a main dealer?
I live in southern Portugal my nearest dealer seems to be Spain

some history -
had intermittent power faults - lights often not coming on etc. power to motor and dash OK. checked on here for solutions, referencing ground wire or Connection problem. I checked a few suggestions initially suspecting the ignition switch, sometimes the power came on after ignition had been on for a few minutes.

The bike always was ridable (even without lights) until now..
