Buy Sell Trade / 2016 Zero DSR ZF13.0 $8,900
« on: September 09, 2019, 08:58:28 PM »
First owner, clean title, 9590 miles and set up to carry a lot of gear in comfort. I used it commuting with my work and gym gear with plenty of extra room for rain gear, spare helmet, charging equipment etc. New Pilot Road 4 Trail tires (smoother and better grip in town but still grip on dirt), full set of hard top and side cases (all can hold a full face helmet and have running and blinker LEDs), windshield and heated seat. Wiring harness for heated seat, 12V outlet and other accessories. A J1772 adapter is available for an extra charge (wall cord is included) as well as faster charging equipment (shown). Pictures in CL link below.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR Birthday List
« on: November 19, 2016, 09:34:43 AM »
My DSR is celebrating its 1st birthday! I've been riding motorcycles for 51 years and always had a few and normally commuted on them. My 2012 Zero S didn't make my top 10, my 2013 Zero DS barley broke into my top 10 but my DSR is in my top 3 along with my 1976 Yamaha RD400 two stroke and my 1985 Honda V65 Magna. Like my children I can't rank them.

Where do you put your DSR after a year? hopefully in a few years Zero will be making all of our #1 bikes.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Free 12.5 kW battery in my 2013 DS
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:17:43 AM »
Thanks ZERO! I had a bad BMS that was replaced but the 11.4 kW battery would not charge fully so my dealer worked with the factory and had it shipped and a new 12.5 kW battery installed. The only problems were it took a couple of months but could have done it much faster but then I would only have gotten a 12 kW 2014 battery and they reconnected and turned on my seat heat (which I had never used) so I fried my but on the highway the 22 miles home. Its had to find the switch at 80 mph with gloves on. I didn't mind the wait because I got a 2016 DSR in November (1.1 k on it). Now I have to decide if I want to keep it as a spare bike with only 4 k on it or sell it to make more room in the garage.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / How to test kickstand switch for 2016 DSR?
« on: February 09, 2016, 06:32:20 AM »
My DSR acts like the kickstand switch is broken. It doesn't look like a mechanical switch so it must sense the aluminium kickstand. I tried laying metal and a magnet on it with no response.  The connector is nearly impossible to get at so does anyone know where the red black and blue wires go that I may be able to get at and what to short out? I could cut the cable but if it isn't the problem I'd hate to start messing around while still under warranty. Just my luck that this is the first really hot day of the year (90 degrees) and I can't ride it.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Side Case Rack from 2013 to 2016 DS?
« on: December 03, 2015, 08:53:22 AM »
Has anyone moved a side case rack from a 2013 or 2014 to a 2015 or 2016 DS? They have different part numbers but I don't know how different they are. My 2013 is not back from the factory yet with a new battery so I can't try it on my DSR. If it won't work without a lot of modifications I'd like to order a new rack and not keep waiting. I had to do some modifications to my 2013 rack because of the tail-delete (build a custom brace) so I'm willing to do some (not a lot) of fabrication.

I only had to enlarge the seat bolt holes to move the top case rack to my DSR. I had already changed the base plate so I could use my GIVI V46 with LED running, brake and turn signals. I moved the smaller GIVI and base plate that came with the 2013 DS to my 2012 S.

I put my smaller slipstreamer windshield on the DSR because the fork clamps for my large slipstreamer are still on the bike at the factory. It looks like the small windshield added about 5% to my range based on my 29 mile commute for 5 days with and without.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / DSR 1st impressions
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:41:57 PM »
I have a 2012 S, 2013 DS and now a 2016 DSR. The amount of change in power and components is similar for each jump. I expected the power increase with the DSR but was pleasantly surprised the ride quality was much better. The suspension improved the most, the stock tires are a big improvement but may not be quite as good for commuting as the Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trails I put on the 2013 DS but will be better off-road. Even the brakes seem a little better. I hope the ABS helps prevent a future fall so should be worthwhile. I love the all black but my wife hates it and is buying me new hi-vis yellow gear.

I hope to move the windshield, heated seat, top box, side cases, J1772, aux 12V, LEDs and running lights for my 2013 DS to the DSR. I know some of the parts wont fit but most should. The 2013 DS is on its way back to Zero for a new battery (in the same crate the DSR came in) with some of the accessories still on it.

Overall I'm very pleased with the new DSR and hear in San Diego I can ride it all year long.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / My DSR came in!
« on: November 18, 2015, 05:34:31 AM »
Thanks to Murphy I have to fly out of town for work so I can't pick it up for a couple of days. I shouldn't complain because my company has agreed to expand their employee EV incentive to motorcycles so I will be getting $2000 from them and hopefully $900 from CA. Perhaps a tax extender will also do something on the federal level.

The dealer is using the box it came in to send my 2013 DS back to Zero for a new battery. My BMS was replaced and a battery problem was noticed. I'm glad I still have my 2012 S that has never given me a problem so I could still commute to work in San Diego.
