Damn.

Guess  it's time to start hacking these things!

Charger and controller is well documented (and already configured) but the VCU and BMS, no documentation on those unfortunately.

One of my contacts at Brammo seemed totally surprised at the news.  I'm guessing that this is the end of the Empulse.  (although the presser says that parts, at least, will continue for 10 years).

Companies are required by law to supply parts for 10 years after a vehicle is discontinued. But if the company disappears who do you sue? and have parts does not mean they are readily available, actual meet OEM standards or are not way too expensive.

Still I bought a 2016 Empulse TT today with 2 miles on it for $5,999 and they threw in the Level 2 charger.  Figured worth risking the future at that price.

Even though Victory is being shuttered, that might not be the end of the Empulse electric motorcycle.

Excellent article, very informative. Perhaps the most interesting sentence is the last one, where he mentions that HD has committed to introducing an electric bike by 2020. That's pretty much a bombshell in itself.

Actually, the Harley electric in 2020 is old news: http://gas2.org/2015/06/08/an-electric-harley-should-be-here-before-2020/ (http://gas2.org/2015/06/08/an-electric-harley-should-be-here-before-2020/)

Rode the Harley LiveWire a couple years ago. Nice bike. Not as nice as the Empulse but more upright seating. And has the same disadvantages as all EV bikes, high cost and limited range. Nothing really new about it
