That's a good PR move on Zero part, early adopters get to upgrade and zero no longer have to support obsolete tech.
Keeping customers happy keeps Zero being promoted and good EV in general.

Can't wait to use this, been waiting for this a long time.

Makes the crappy bikes worth more even as crappers....    ;D sorry I had too

But seriously great move on zeros part makes all their used bikes go way up in value! While also putting better vehicles on the road!!!!   I will be trying to do this deal to say the least with a few of my older 12's that have had issues, to get offered a MY 14 is pretty extraordinary, not to many companies can do that!

Hopefully a new bike in my future!!!

FYI Zero Europe is also doing this deal. Details should be with dealers in the next few days.

I've already got a 2014 DS, ZF-11.4 on its way to Hollywood Electrics, as a result of this program.

Harlan says I should have it this week.  8) I got $6,000 trade in on my 2012 DS ZF-6. I tried to sell it for that price and didn't even get one interested inquiry. Not many are interested in a ZF-6 to begin with and then with the motor problems these bikes are having it just killed the market for my bike, even though it is very low mileage.

Yeah Zero!

As there's no way I'd ever consider buying another Zero, this is no help to me at all.

Agreed it is a good move by Zero.  Get those old bikes off the road, and replace them with the platform they are moving forward with will help customers and Zero.

That is exciting news! Does anyone know whether it is only for new 2014 vehicles, or whether there are any demos available? I'm wondering if the money would only come off the list price of a new 2014. Does anybody know what a new 2014 FX would run?

It is definitely only for 2014 vehicles.  I'm told they have excess stock of 14's because of a fleet deal that went south.

Thanks.  Any idea of the pricing on them?

Does the 10% Federal Tax Credit apply to this?

Also, I wonder if buying a discounted demo model is legit under this program. Or does one have to pay MSRP?

I admit I'm tempted, $6K is way more than I could sell my bike for.
But my 2012 is running so darn well, I hate to give up on it.
I'd have to fork out $7000-$14000 depending on the 2014 model I selected, and sure, it'd be way cooler and better...
but I could also not pay a penny and just keep enjoying my 2012.   I'd like to ride it to at least 50k before I give up on it.

Ahhh, tough choice.

Or, we could use my dead 2010 as a trade in,  and you'd have 2 great bikes!  I JUST bought that 2014 demo 2 weeks ago, before they announced this program.  If only i had known.  But having ridden the 2010 for a little while and now riding the 2014, i can say it was worth it for me. ..

I was told that there are no 2014 FX's available but the DS was no problem. It was priced at the factory listed MSRP (no discount) and it does qualify for the gov rebate.
