Can I use batteries off an electric wheelchair for my e-dirtbike project?

I got them for free and there are 4 "deep cycle" 12v

Wouldn't recomend it, you have to match the discharge rates and capacity to the motor and desired usage.

Still, if they were free, it's not that hard to knock up a battery box for testing.

It all depends on the battery and what kind of Ah rating it is. Deep cycle 12V is what he'd want to use if he was using Lead..... before lithium, that's what we used. I used SLA's for mine, a bunch of 18Ah batteries, 2 in parallel, 6 in series for 72V. Worked just fine. Wheelchair batteries are pretty hefty batteries BTW Bogan.

Do you have the model number and brand of the battery?

Sorry, question now n/a as some F#*k stole both units as well as the batteries. We do however keep getting them in where I work, so I'll keep my eye out for any more that come in as I'm trying to do this project on the cheap if at all possible. Thanks for the feedback.
