without tax, which means another 20% -22% on top in Europe...
High priced but using expensive parts so justifiable.

Great news, and Energica will be able to get lots of valuable data from these bikes to aid them in R&D!

Energica is a public company so you can find that info from their financial reports. Even if they don't publish actual bike numbers you can divide by an average bike price of around 35k

Maybe now that Zero has the former Brammo head on board they will adopt the Brammo approach and install battery heaters.
Worked great on my Empulse.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: ITALIAN ZERO OWNERS
« on: September 15, 2017, 02:03:28 PM »
Apologies to spoil this thread with English but even though I can read and understand Italian, I can't write it very well yet.
I moved to Milan from Amsterdam this year and brought my Brammo Empulse with me. But after 6 months of not using it I've sold it. I only use my bicycle in town and use the train for long distance.
But I am still interested to meet EV enthusiast and did see another Brammo and a few Zero's riding around in Milan already!
Ciao!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: What are your dreams for 2018?
« on: September 15, 2017, 01:57:40 PM »
Designing such a frame incl. the fork, making it work (suspension etc) and getting it certified, adjust your production line, logistics, etc. is a huge investment. I wonder how many bikes must be sold to recover that investment? I guess that's the question that Zero is trying to get answered too and probably the return on investment so far was not favorable.

Remember in 2013 there was the big upgrade and since then only relatively small upgrades and improvements of that platform. some recalls also occurred in that period so my guess is that cash for investments is not going to be abundant. I assume some tough choices have to made by the product development team on the long list of wishes each time they plan a new model year.

Zero may have a reverse Tesla masterplan: build as many bikes as possible to attract enough investors to do the exclusive bikes, or get acquired by a manufacturer of ICE bikes...

Looking forward to see the 2018 announcements. Does anybody know where and when it will be?
I guess it will also be the first model year where we can see the influence of Brian Wismann to the design/developments.

In this day and age of fake news I'm not surprised about this.
I feel sorry for those that will lose their money.

« on: February 18, 2017, 03:59:50 PM »
JCB444 has his facts wrong. But rather than statistically debunking his claims we are lured into emotional replies and discussions.

I think that he's had a bad experience with his Zero and he has found this forum as a way to release some of his anger.
In one post he is even claiming that Zero is about to go chapter 11, very unprofessional!

I own a Brammo Empulse and would not hesitate to buy a Zero as a replacement in a few years. So even for the critical buyer (which I think I am) the Zero is a good product.

As long as they keep improving the bikes yoy as they have been doing,  there is only growth for Zero.

Looks like fun. What is that place?
Just Google for marl caves. My guess is that it's the ones in Valkenburg but they are also in Maastricht

You did very well with your predictions @protomech!

Did you also predict the presidential elections correctly?

Very nice. It would be great if Alta could get a race program going and continue to progress the bikes.
And of course win one day!

Did they mention anything about the smeshgear? I am curious about it's real life performance and usefulness.

In 2012 and 2014 they used Intermot to show the next year's line up. I went to see them both times.
This year Zero are not at Intermot. I guess that show didn't have the right marketing effect.

It seems EICMA is still interesting enough though. Maybe also because EICMA is annual and Intermot is bi-annual.

Next year I will be able to go to EICMA and see the new Zero models again as I am moving to Milan in January '17 :)
