I realize the DS is meant to be more usable off of paved roads, but I really see very little difference between them in the specs other than tires.
Do they really feel that different? One reviewer said the DS was a little more comfortable and perhaps less aerodynamic.

The DS makes a great commuter; I've switched to more street-oriented tires and used it on-road mostly. Also, dual sport geometry and suspension work great when the pavement is rough and not maintained well (Seattle and East SF Bay have both been rough rides).
I think the geometry is great if you have longer legs or if you want to ride a while, since the knee angle is less acute. I would put the choice down to ergonomic fit.
