Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Drive belt snapped!
« on: March 15, 2016, 09:17:34 AM »
I had this happen to me on my 2013 S on my first ride. I didn't even have 50km on the bike yet and the belt broke on me. I did the repair myself in the garage. I have no experience fixing motorcycles, but the closest dealer was over 200km away, so I figured it was worth a shot. As long as you have a way of propping the bike up and the proper tools, it's really quite easy. I had no issues installing the new belt, and it is still going strong (2 years and >16,000km later)

I was with Intact on my 2013 S, and they wanted to insure it as a 650. I disputed and they ended up classing it as a 350

I'm not familiar with the 2011 bikes. Mine has regen built in from the factory. You can simply use the app to control how strong it is.

Hi Sarge, bike has never been dropped and only hand washed with a low pressure hose. It has user controlled regen through the app, and is a 11.4 KWh battery (10.58 useable). I am located in Peterborough.

They had a look at it, and said there isn't anything wrong. One mechanic suggested it's possible it is a problem with a slipped belt on the tire, because he has seen that on Avon tires before. Maybe it's all in my head  :-\

It doesn't look like any rim weights were added. I am taking it back in tomorrow to have them check the balancing. I will report back.

Just curious, but how do you replace the rear tire without touching the belt?

Thanks guys. I will check with the shop to see if they balanced the wheel. If that doesn't fix it, I will tinker with the belt adjustment a bit more.

Hi folks,

I recently replaced the rear tire on my 2013 S at 16,000km. I installed an Avon RoadRider, however since it has been replaced I have noticed a slight vibration on the bike. It is most noticeable between 30-60km/h, and it almost feels as if you are riding on cobblestone. I don't hear any noise that is out of the ordinary, and I tried adjusting the belt alignment with no change. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Buy Sell Trade / 2013 Zero S ZF11.4 *SOLD*

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to sell my 2013 Zero S 11.4. It has been a great bike, but I am looking at upgrading to an electric car and can't afford to keep both. It had a new motor installed under warranty in April 2015, and comes with a brand new Avon Roadrider rear tire installed. The bike just ticked over 15,000km. It includes the Givi side cases, as well as the Zero commuter windshield and RAM phone mount. The bike is custom painted Ferrari red, so it is a lighter shade than the deep red of the SR.

I am located in Ontario, Canada - and the market for these bikes is slim here.

I figured with the way the USD is, it may be more appealing to American buyers. I am asking $8,500CAD, or $6,500USD (at current exchange).

What options are there for a 2013 S again? I went to the original link but the store no longer has any info.

Hey Justin. I have the same bike as you, and just got mine back from having the motor replaced and firmware updated yesterday! Fingers crossed all goes well this season.
