Title: Permanent J1772 Connector
Post by: PhreaK on August 11, 2015, 06:24:37 PM
Has anyone mounted a permanent J1772 connector to their bike? I know rate of charge will still be limited by the 1.3kW onboard charger, however there's quite a few free points around Melbourne that would be great to take advantage of without worrying about an adapter going walking. This would obviously need some form of switchable isolation to disconnect the C14 plug while the J1772 is in use and vice versa. Just wondering if anyone done anything similar?

Most people who have those connectors installed also have fast chargers with them.

You could use one of these:

You could wire them in parrel as long as you had covers for both sockets.
Leave the cover on the one your not charging with.

I'm about to fit one!? I have 2 extra DeltaQ chargers that I can use for longer trips and have almost finished adding 3 new inlets (1x10a, 1x5a, 1xJ),  2 new outlets and a junction box under the tank. The j box will include a relay combining all 3 charges to the J series inlet. I used aircraft connectors for robustness etc. (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/12/d7b79821a1b488a49f50c004de9b9cf8.jpg)(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/12/a85bd04093619889f35399d5433ba2b1.jpg)

I would thing you could bolt a wire loop or metal plate with a hole in it to the above J1772 adapter and use a bike lock to lock it to your Zero.
A quick and easy solution.
