I like it too. I didn't mind the old one but the new one is nice. It will be interesting to see what new tricks they have for 2014!

Your blinker is on... :P  LOL Congrats! That looks like great fun. The sound your getting from the rear shock, not the spring clicking but the hydraulic sound, do you think you would have been able to hear that on an ICE bike? I'm not saying your bike doesn't need some sort of adjustment but I think some sounds heard on an EV are things that would never be noticed on an ICE bike because of the extra noise of the exhaust. Could it just be the normal sound of the shock?  Regardless of whether it is normal or not if the sound is bothering you it needs to be resolved. Congrats again, and I love your colour choice!!

Nice review and the sound clip of that thing is amazing! When guys gripe about not liking electric because they have no sound have never heard that! LOL

General Discussion / Re: Li-S the next big thing?

I agree but then again I really don't think Toyota has their heart into electric. The rav4ev is a compliance vehicle(they build it in my Province and they refuse to sell it here >:( ), and the Prius line is still paying its returns to Toyota so they are in no rush to mess with a great selling line of cars to try some  newfangled  battery chemistry.

If they have the right 45 people maybe the little guys can pull something off!

General Discussion / Li-S the next big thing?

This is an interesting news article I read over on GM-Volt.com. Could Lithium sulfur be the next big step battery chemistry? Better density, thermally stable, no damage to capacity when run to 100% discharge... They say it is coming in 2014!  It is a good read, check it out!

Cheers, Tom.

EV Stocks / A123 files for bankruptcy!
« on: May 22, 2013, 09:39:14 PM »
I did read recently that A123 has finished its restructuring and is going to continue to operate in the US as before. It will operate as a division of its parent company and won't be closed down and exported to China, which is a relief.

That's funny. They have to do their job and pull you over but it is great that they didn't charge you!

You live in a great city Doc. I love Quebec City!

I agree 100% with your posts about being more visible. I noticed a difference when I gave up my cool black leather jacket for my high viz yellow silver and reflective Belstaff riding jacket. I also wear a white helmet. That and defensive riding habits... remember everyone is trying to kill you. ;)

I like the pod racer sound as long as you can turn it off. I could see it being useful in parking lots for pedestrian awareness but that's about it. I like the idea of being silent too. When I ride in the bush it would be much nicer to make as little noise as possible.

As for loud pipes saves lives, it is rubbish. Loud pipes annoy neighbors and that is it. There is a small town by were I live called Belfountain. It has some amazing bike roads through it and it used to be quiet even on the long weekends when all the motorcyclists were out. That is until the loud/straight pipe Harley resurgence started about 15years ago. Now you can't hear yourself think on weekends in the summer because of these inconsiderate riders rolling on the throttle at stop signs and in the turns. It has gotten so bad that the locals are now paying overtime for local police to give out noise violations on the weekends. Most riders that get the tickets though can easily afford the fine and look at is as a joke more than a punishment.

A huge draw for me with electric bikes is the lack of noise.

This sounds more like a dealership problem to me. Some dealerships are just poor.  Poor customer service after buying the bike, poor service of the bike, and poor management. I would guess the majority of the issues you've had with your bike other than the initial problem were all caused by the dealership and their inability to deal with the problems your bike had.

Last year this happened to me. GM Canada will pay for Volt owners gas costs if your car is in for warranty service  and you need a rental. I've been in twice for warranty work and have been compensated for my gas costs. The first time it took over a month to get my cheque because the service manager wouldn't cut a cheque until GM paid him. Okay, I can sort of understand that, I understand how hard it can be to get big corporations to give moneys out instead of take moneys in. The second time It was twice as long. Finally the service guys said I could come in to get my cheque. When I did and they didn't have it the service manager came out and said I wasn't going to get it because I already picked it up! What was I trying to pull he accused! Naturally I was shocked at the accusation. After 10 minutes of back and forth the service manager finally realized that I had been in for 2 different services and he went into his office and gave me the cheque. No apology, he never stopped being mad at me for his own mistake, and to this day he won't meet my eye. Poor management resulting in poor service reflecting poorly on the brand.  GM Canada is doing great things with this program for customer service and customer relations and this one service manager is wiping out all that goodwill out with his piss poor attitude. I feel sorry for the staff under him. They've all been very helpful despite their boss.

I'd bet something similar is happening with your case. I'd bet Zero is doing all they reasonably can and the weak link lies somewhere at the dealership. I wouldn't stop expressing your situation on the forum because of someone at the dealerships opinion.

That was a good review. Well rounded and balanced. Makes me want a 2013 even more!! ;D

General Discussion / Re: GM Chevrolet Spark

If I lived in the city I'd consider one. Unfortunately I'm out in the sticks and the range is still a bit too low for me. They are making progress though with ranges! I'd still like to see, in the future, extended range batteries as an option. Right now they are trying to balance cost of purchase with range performance. I am just outside the average American commuting range and they are building cars just to fit that range. I'd pay a premium to get an extended range battery as an option so they could still sell a lower cost car to the general buying public who live in town.
