Hello,
I own a 2013 Zero S with the 12.5 battery upgrade, and I'm having issues with the Android app. Never detected the model, says Model unknown. But in addition, now, since the new firmware was loaded, it is taking values that are little more than random.
When I pick up the motorcycle in the morning, the load can have values from 10000kWh to the 22500kWh that I have seen at any time.
I have let the load reach 0% on any ride so that it syncs well, but still does not work.
I give some examples of what I am talking about and I attach the MBB log too:
-
Yeah, they really have some work to do.
-
Zero says me I must update Zero app. Obviously, I have last versión (1.5.7) of the app. Here is an extract of the today log:

And charge when I get it at 5:10 was 8740kWh. My battery is 12.5
I think something is bad. Anyone has any idea which is the problem?
Thanks in advance.
-
Latest version is 1.6.50
-
Yes, 1.6.50, sorry, I'd a mistake. Attach is a screen from my phone...
-
That version was released last week of September, do you have the same results as your early September posting?
-
Hello,
Yes, I had the same results. I'm letting more loads and discharges be made to see if it stabilizes.
But I've been warned about these log lines:
04886 09/28/2017 17:11:09 Low Chassis Isolation 100 KOhms to cell 3
04887 09/28/2017 17:39:30 Low Chassis Isolation 99 KOhms to cell 3
04888 09/28/2017 18:10:45 Low Chassis Isolation 99 KOhms to cell 4
04889 09/28/2017 18:33:09 Low Chassis Isolation 98 KOhms to cell 3
04890 09/28/2017 18:50:29 Low Chassis Isolation 100 KOhms to cell 3
04891 09/28/2017 19:51:36 Low Chassis Isolation 99 KOhms to cell 3
04892 09/28/2017 20:47:00 Low Chassis Isolation 98 KOhms to cell 4
04893 09/28/2017 22:26:11 Low Chassis Isolation 100 KOhms to cell 4
Do you think I should worry about it and say something in the technical service or is it a minor problem? What consequences can it have that does nothing?
Thank you,
Greetings.
-
The latest firmware v51, has my 2015 SR 12.5 doing the same thing. Pack size 7-18kWh, range random, percentage off by 10-40%.
-
Low chassis isolation scares me.
If it was mine, I'd call Zero support.
-
Why?
I don't understand what's the problem. Can anyone explain me, please? :(
-
Low chassis isolation sounds like something is touching the chassis.
I.e. it sounds like it's reporting a short circuit, which seems scary to me,
so I would call the experts to find out if it really is a problem.

Hi All
Another log from my bike. (Attach is the complete log) Now, odometer shows 50% only with a 35kms highway ride. Temperature is 10ºCelsius. I think there's something bad in battery.
What do you think?

Low chassis isolation sounds like something is touching the chassis.
I.e. it sounds like it's reporting a short circuit, which seems scary to me,
so I would call the experts to find out if it really is a problem.
I'll just paste my reply from the other thread:
Those insulation messages appear in my logs regularly. I think there's no need to worry about them. The bike constantly tries to measure insulation against all of the cells, however insulation measurment is kind of a tricky thing. You'll need very high voltages to get accurate values when trying to measure high resistances. In germany, we use 1000 V devices for measurements of electric tools etc. I guess Zero doesn't have such a device on their bike, so they rely on simpler methods, which sometimes generates warnings which is what you see in your log.
If I remember correctly, there is also a dash error code once there is a serious insulation error which needs to be taken care of.
And even if there's a bad insulation in between the frame and either one of the battery poles (+ or -), that's still no short circuit and no imminent danger yet. Only if you touch both of the poles you'll get shocked, you can easily touch one of them under full voltage. If insulation agaist one of them is lost, that changes a bit, as now it may be sufficient to just touch one of the poles to get shocked.

Personally talking as a professional software developer I'd be focusing more on those exception caught errors.
That is really not a good thing to see in a program output.

The capacity swings are due to an error in the firmware. This is the #firmwaregate bug
