Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Quiq onboard?
« on: November 02, 2017, 12:08:34 AM »
Found this picture posted way way back by eyeinsky. Looks like the Quiq was the stock onboard charger on the old XU. Maybe they should have stuck with that. Maybe I can mount my Quiq on my FX? Hmmm...

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Suggest an aftermarket charger?
« on: October 29, 2017, 06:27:31 AM »
It's pretty exciting reading about all these alternative chargers, but I'd love to get some specific, practical advice. I'm no electrical engineer, and I'm considering an aftermarket replacement for the stock charger on my 15FX. I'd be happy with something weatherproof and 2 or 3 kw, preferably tied in as a replacement for the stock charger. Ideas?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / FX - Awesome balance
« on: September 04, 2017, 09:50:38 PM »
I recently discovered that on my 2015 FX, I can take both hands off the bars and it coasts along forward rock solid. I don't think I've ever had a motorcycle that stable (PC800 headshake, anyone?) and even my bicycles need a little input through the saddle to stay on course when "no-handing". Now, I have never ridden dirt bikes, so is this a dirt bike thing or a Zero thing?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Onboard charger voltage too high?
« on: July 09, 2017, 05:19:41 AM »
After my dealer replaced the Calex, bike still won't charge. Charger is putting out too much, about 118v, and Zero is telling him it needs a whole new wire harness. He replaced the suspect looking fuse and now it seems to charge. Anyone have similar experience or insight? It's a 2015 FX...

Looks like AF1 Racing has full parts diagrams for many Zero models and can special order parts. For instance, I found that my charger that's being replaced on my 2015 FX under warranty would cost US$750 if I were to special order one.

I was considering the following:

Get left hand brake cylinder/lever.
Locate line from rear master cylinder to ABS and disconnect from cylinder.
Reroute line to front and connect to left hand master cylinder.
Fill, bleed, good?

Anyone know why this would not work? Any suggestions or recommendations? Anyone already done this?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / No charge no error
« on: June 08, 2017, 07:37:46 PM »
So I got all ready for work this morning, turned on my 2015 FX, and saw only 25% charge (?). Figured I would just beg the powers that be to let me charge at work. But first, plug it back in and make sure there is nothing wrong. Green charge light blinks, then goes out, then nothing. Dash shows 25%, time to charge still 0 and no charge light. 😢

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Errors in heavy rain, short?
« on: May 26, 2017, 03:00:22 AM »
While riding in the last couple of heavy storms, I got an error (flashing red triangle) on my 2015 FX. The error codes on the display were 0020 and 0028. From what I could find online, it sounds like some kind of high voltage short. Dangerous? The whole time it ran just fine and cleared by the time I got home, then charged and ran fine after that. So, could anyone give some advice on whether this is something to worry about and should I maybe add some additional waterproofing somewhere? (Don't ride in the rain? That's ridiculous!)

I added a little info and a couple of pictures of my bar ends mirrors with hand guards - http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Common_Modifications#Bar-End_Mirrors, and FX LED headlights - http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Zero_Aftermarket#X-Platform_Headlamp.

I can confirm that these work very well, perfect fit and quite bright, and $4.99 per pair. Just make sure you specify BAU15S. http://m.ebay.com/itm/2-x-12V-13-SMD-BAU15s-7507-PY21W-LED-Amber-Car-Bulb-Light-Tail-Turn-Signal-Lamp-/322110364566

Is there any reason why I should not put a cover on this like S/DS have?  (http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Unofficial_Service_Manual#OBD_Location)
It appears to be a Delphi 12146933. I've got one on order and will let y'all know if it fits.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / M-Factory LED tail/running lights

Anyone have experience with these? I think I'll try either the front or rear first, review, then go for the others if they are satisfactory. (The rears have dual intensity red LEDs where the front have white.)

Parts, Mods And Hacks / Downtown sound
« on: October 14, 2016, 08:25:50 PM »
Inattentive pedestrians are a big problem in downtown Denver, as well as bicyclists who routinely run lights and stop signs. I'm thinking of mounting one of these, with a toggle switch, to act as a friendly warning: http://wolo-mfg.com/back-up-alarms/model-ba-64-bird-chirp.html Ideas, opinions, hints?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / FX frame touch up

I've got a couple of small nicks and scratches on my frame and was wondering what might be good for touching up that black paint?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Log data > Spreadsheet > Graphs ?
« on: September 26, 2016, 01:45:08 AM »
I just used Kim Burgess python script to decode my log file and there seems to be a lot of interesting info (including stuff I remind myself to not worry about if it's running OK). I was wondering if anyone has worked on analyzing their data, perhaps in a spreadsheet or even graphs, perhaps comparing RPM/speed/distance over time with SOC/V, or effect of temp on discharging and charging, or even trying to determine how many CAN BUS errors are "normal." I've already learned that my FX has a Calex 720W charger and a Calex 1200W just from a quick browse. I think it's time for some data analysis to learn even more.
