Title: Fixed Zero's short kickstand for $5.99
Post by: Alan. Yes THAT Alan on November 14, 2022, 02:57:15 AM
Anyone else have a 2016 SR whose kickstand is too short? I have to park it almost 3 feet away from anything on my left, because when I get off the bike, it leans way over and the mirrors hit whatever is there.
A new, proper-sized kickstand from Zero costs over $80.
Cheap me, I bought a pair of cowboy boots at Goodwill, cut the heel off one of them, and then Gorillaglued everything to the bottom of my little kickstand. Maybe not the prettiest solution, but it works. (Note: It's hard to saw cowboy-boot heels in a straight line.)

I need to do that on my Royal Enfield. It leans over at a 45 degree angle.  :o

That is how my thousand-pound Harley was. I thought it was ridiculous when on perfectly level ground. It took a lot of muscle just to get the bike up to ride.

I do that with my Yamha Venture as needed. But on my Harley, a I have metal block attached to the bottom of the sidestand.

I have found hockey pucks are useful tools around motorcycles for several types of odd jobs.

A hockey puck is a great idea! I didn't think of using one, because there are no hockey pucks in south Texas. There are, however, lots of cowboy boots.

Hockey pucks are also excellent for jacking up cars, where they have the unibody welded in a seam. Most roll around floor jacks have a circular plate with a lip on the circumference, that pushes up and that can cause the seam to roll over. So I put a hockey puck on top. The hockey pucks stretches to accomodate the seam. Been using them for years... mine are all from Chzeck Republic I think.

They are also good for getting the front tire off an Energica SS9- with the same floor lift as I use with my Zeros. That is after I take the plastic off the bottom of the bike. It's not flat enough for the lift, except when the hockey pucks are used.
