Electric Motorcycle News / ClevelandMoto no longer a Zero dealer
« on: April 25, 2024, 07:15:00 PM »
ClevelandMoto is...was my local dealer where I bought my 2020 FXS.  As of a week or so, they are no longer a Zero dealer.  FYI for any of my brothers in NE Ohio.

General Discussion / FortNine: Why Electric Motorcycles are Failing
« on: June 12, 2021, 11:29:10 PM »
I respect FortNine's opinion because his videos are so good, and I'm sure his data is spot on.  But the tone of the content concerns me.  He has a lot of subscribers.  If half of them write off electric, it's only going to get worse.

He did touch upon something I surmised long ago.  E-bicycles are popular because they increase the range of a regular bike.  City E-Scooters do as well.  E-motorcycles however have less range then their counterpart, and everybody knows that.  It's the first concern brought up.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Handlebar risers on FXS ?
« on: July 25, 2020, 06:56:19 PM »
Has anyone bought handlebar risers for an FX/FXS?  I am raising my seat up a little and want to compensate on the bars as well.  Does anyone know if the existing cables can stretch up another 1-2" ?  I may also want them moved towards me a bit, so I might need new handlebars anyway.

And also a recommendation.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Energica vs Zero availability
« on: June 13, 2020, 07:35:35 PM »
I thought I'd post something fun.  This is not meant to start any arguments...

To all Zero owners...IF an Energica dealer had been (or is) as close to you as a local Zero dealer, would you have considered them?

For me, it was a non-starter. I've never seen an Energica in my life and no dealers near me in Ohio.  I'd probably still find them too heavy for my tastes, but I have no way of knowing..

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / FXS 2020 belt snapped
« on: May 27, 2020, 04:10:05 AM »
New'ish bike with less than 500 miles.  Accelerating up a slight hill to maybe 50Mph in a custom mode that is somewhere between ECO and Sport (71% torque setting).  90 degrees hot day in Ohio. No rain, no rocks, no slippage. Snapped right off.  I pushed it a mile to somewhere safe.

I called a friend to get it towed to my house.  Does anyone know if this is a warranty part when less than a year old?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Zero FXS tire options?
« on: May 23, 2020, 08:23:48 PM »
I searched and was surprised there was no thread for this.

I found this spreadsheet somewhere but I don't recall who put it together
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TUcc90Mw93mKhC_PLnxq6MTnL94NDy1VBrjly8BeQc0/

Based on this list, or any other, what are some good replacement tires for the FXS?  I'm looking for a step up in quality and want a drop in replacement regarding sizing.  Thanks.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / FXS Windscreen options?
« on: May 17, 2020, 04:11:09 AM »
I saw the big thread on FX/FXS windscreen options but some things have changed since then.  Some of the links in the unofficial manual don't work anymore, and I'm not sure the base recommendation will work for me.

The Zero Cycra handguards take up a considerable amount of real estate space on my handlebar.  My cell phone holder occupies the remaining space on the left side (which I know can be moved...) as the brake fluid reservoir does on the right.  I believe there are some windshield mounts that'll attach to the handlebar clamp with longer top screws.  Is that an option for the FXS?  I could also use a windscreen recommendation.  Not "touring" size, but enough to make a difference.

Thanks.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / FX/FXS rack kit?
« on: April 21, 2020, 09:30:20 PM »
I want to buy the back rack for my 2020 FXS.  I do not want the GIVI top box, at least not yet.  I see that AF1 Racing sells them together.
https://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=101428

Is that the only way to get it?  Part# ZM10-08278-1  ?  Can you buy the rack separately?

Also, from this YT video I see it mounted in a hole that does not exist on my FXS.  Assuming this isn't a custom thing (seeing how Zero sell this), WTF?  Do the official instructions have you drill a hole or modify the bike?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Zero official web page specs
« on: April 14, 2020, 06:28:27 PM »
This didn't always used to be like this, but today I couldn't figure out how to show the Zero FX or FXS specs with the upgraded battery.
https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/model/zero-fxs

The picture they show is the 7.2, but the specs listed are the 3.6 and I see no option to change it.  Is everyone getting the same thing on their browser?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Saddlebags for Zero FXS?
« on: March 31, 2020, 05:08:57 PM »
Can anyone recommend some soft throwover saddlebags for an FXS?  Also, how can you safely use them without it hitting the back tire?
