General Discussion / Why no electric bike shootouts on youtube?
« on: March 09, 2020, 08:44:29 AM »
Back in the day when I used to buy a new sportbike every other year, I always looked forward to seeing the latest shootouts of the new bikes in places like cycleworld and motorcyclist magazines. So why are there no shootouts between electric bikes?
We have Zero, Energica, Harley and um Lightening (cough, cough).
I see alot of talk of specs and reviews, but no honest to goodness shootouts by owners or by the major publications. If anyone knows of one, please post it.
Thanks

I found a new cheap electric motorcycle/scooter that seem like would be a great back up or second electric bike for under $3000 delivered to your door. Anyone have experience on one?
Below are links to the website and a great review by electrec.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Mirror Placement SR/S. What do you think?
« on: February 29, 2020, 04:27:11 AM »
I think the sr/s looks very cool, but please explain the mirror location. Very strange and confusing. Not only does the handlebar appear to somewhat block the view, the distance from your eyes makes less field of view, and reaching to adjust them while riding seems really hard.

General Discussion / DC to AC adaptor? Possible?
« on: September 05, 2019, 07:18:33 AM »
Stupid question maybe, but is it possible to build a DC to AC charge adaptor, so Zero owners with a charge tank can charge from all the new DC charge stations popping up everywhere from Electrify America. And could the adaptor be made small enough to carry in a saddlebag?
There are more DC fast chargers in my area and they are conveniently located and very user friendly compared to the J1772 stations.

Buy Sell Trade / Gotta sell my 2017 Zero DSR 13.0
« on: September 02, 2019, 03:10:00 AM »
Very sad day! I need to sell my 2017 dsr. This is the most fun I've ever had with a motorcycle, but I need a car. A specific car, so no trades. It was laid down once before I bought it, but yould never know by looking at it. I didn't even know it till I got it home and took the ugly handguards off it. That's when I noticed the bar end was ground off slightly. Than I looked more closely and found the other 2 spots. I have a homemade parking brake attached to the bar end, so all all scrapes are hidden. The other imperfections are under the right footpeg and the tip of rear brake lever (see pictures), the bike is othrwise perfect and rides/runs perfectly. I've put 7700 miles on it and has a total just under 9000 miles.
I installed the Zero J1772 adaptor plug in the hole of the rear swingarm. Perfect spot for it and the cord stays tucked in the other side till you need it. You can see picture of it plugged into the bikes charging port. Now you are not limited to just home charging.
The Zero rear rack is included but NOT the Givi case or mount. I've used that same givi case on my last 4 bikes, so I'm keeping it for my next.
I also eliminated the rear fender.
Bike is in beautiful condition!
I'm located in Mesquite nv and asking $9500.

General Discussion / Article on new electric motor
« on: August 11, 2019, 04:50:39 AM »
New motor technology. Maybe this is what ev needs right now to supplement the lack of battery technology. Most of this article goes over my head, but would love to know what the tech wizards on this site think.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Dsr top speed in custom mode
« on: May 29, 2019, 05:40:40 AM »
This might be old news, but it's new to me since I finally was able to connect to my bike via blue tooth.
I've always been under the impression that 102mph was the top speed and have also been limited to that personally, but when i went to custom settings, I was able to increase top speed to 110mph. First chance I got, I hit the freeway at 107mph and may have been able to go faster but battery was at 60%, and I was sitting straight up.
Sweet!👍

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Help! Zero app not working!
« on: May 26, 2019, 08:54:28 AM »
It shows it's "paired" to my vin#, but on the app home page, it say i am not connected to a motorcycle, and I can't adjust/change the custom settings. Seems to be set by previous owner though.. I've followed the instructions. Why would it say I'm "paired" and "not connected" at the same time?

Solid State Batteries. It's nice to see so many big companies working on next generation battery technology.

Need Help: 2017 dsr shows empty when I just charged it last night. Drove it 2 miles this morning and stopped for lunch. When I tried to leave, it wouldn't go. Lights work, but red light blinks and battery shows zero percent charge. Checked all normal stuff like cutoff switch and kickstand, but even than, it should still show full battery.
Still had 60% when I hooked it up last night.

Whose got the first one? Can't wait to hear/see some reviews.
