Pictures - How To Post Them On This Forum

(1/3) > >>

skadamo:
There are a few ways to post pictures on this forum. I recommend method 2 if you're on a computer and method 3 if you're on a mobile device or tablet.

Method 1: Attach to post
The first way is to click "Additional Options..." at the bottom of the new post page. You can then browse to your pictures on your computer and post them. Currently there is a 600 KB limit to the size.

NOTE: if you have an image larger than 600 KB you can use GIMP (powerful but kind of hard to learn) or an online image resizer (fast and easy) like http://postimage.org/ to resize (scale) it. 640 x 480 is a good size for Forums like this. After you resize it you can use this method to attach it to a post.

Method 2: Upload To Flickr and add to post with BBCode
If you have a larger size picture you want to post try this...

1) Log in at www.Flickr.com (or create a new account if you don't have one)
2) Go To http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/basic/
3) Click the "browse" button to the pics you want to upload and then click Upload button
4) Find your recently uploaded pics in your flickr account
5) Click on the picture you want to put in a forum post and click "share" -> click "Grab HTML/BBCode" -> select "BBCode" radio button

6) Now you can copy the "BBCode" and paste it into your new post on the forum. To do this select all the text in the box, hold down [Ctrl] key and hit the [c] key. Then put the cursor in a new post on EM Forum and hit [Cntl] [v]. It will look like a bunch of junk text until you "Post". Once you submit your new post the pictures will show up correctly.

Pro Tip:
Now if you want to get really geeky you can email the picture to flickr using your secret flickr image upload email address...
http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/

This is very handy for pics you take with your phone. Just email them to flickr and then skip to step 4 above.

Method 2b: Upload to Image Shack

This is a simple way to get your image online and paste it into a new forum post. Similar to Flickr, just fewer steps.

1)   go to Image Shack and register
2)   upload your image
3)   copy the BBCode and paste into a new forum post

Method 3: Tapatalk Phone App
If you have an iPad, iPhone or Android based phone go buy Tapatalk. This app will allow you to post pictures and they will host them. Tapatalk is pretty slick and a great way to browse the forums on a mobile device.

Killroy:
I have been posting pictures with links to other sites. Usually, there is not problem with that on most Forums as long as the host does not have a problem.  Is that OK on EMF?

1.  Find a picture online
2.  Right click, a windows menu comes up
3.  Click 'Copy URL'
4.  Go to EMF in a post window and click the image button below the bold button.
5.  Paste URL (press and hold 'Ctrl' and 'v')

The real question is if EMF can embed Youtube?

The Only 'Officially Recognized' Akira Bike Replica

April 6, 2012

--- Quote ---This is a replica of Shotaro Kaneda's bike from Akira, built by Masashi Teshima over the past seven years for a cost of around $120K. It's the only replica with the official blessing of Akira's creator Katsuhiro Otomo, and now Teshima is riding the bike across Japan to raise money for children's autism. Afterwards, the bike will be on display at an exhibit celebrating Akira's creator, where it will be raising money for victims of last year's earthquake/tsunami.
