Mission Motorcycles (based in San Francisco) didn't waste any time displaying their $59,000 + production RS race/steet bike and $30,000 + 2014 R production street motorcycle at Alice's Restaurant. Attached is a photo of the prototype "R" model, which will go on sale next year.

Wondering what their sales plan looks like.
40 Mission RS bikes .. available this year? Federal 10% credit (cap at $2500) should be available. I think the credit requires the bikes to be street-legal?
Mission R bikes .. street-legal .. available after all 40 Mission RS bikes have been sold, next year? Federal 10% credit will have expired.

I think they are just happy to have an investor footing the bill and their hopeful business plan. :)
If Ducati can sell as many RR bikes that they can make for $30K, Mission should be able to sell as many of their RS and R models as they can hand assemble next year. Early adopters have lots of money to spend on the latest and greatest gadget, especially if it appears to be well designed and manufactured. It seems to work for Apple. Plus, there is a lot of loose cash in the Bay Area, just check out the price of homes around here.
