High hopes for this as they have been talking about it for awhile.  At $15000 for the SM that's a spicy a meatball.  Based on the battery size and range it's no better than the FXS.  The frame and suspension will have to be a huge improvement or it could be DOA.  I saw the video where the converted FX took on the DRZ400 on the moto track and kept over heating.  I guess they will rematch this summer with the FXS and the IPM motor.  I wish them luck and will be very interested in the real world tests and stats.

If you read the technology page on their website it sounds like it may out-perform the FX and FXS. A 15,000 RPM motor's got to make some kind of an obvious difference. For example, from what I've been reading elsewhere on this forum the FX and FXS can only wheelie under limited conditions. Alta seems to claim theirs can wheelie at any speed. It also sounds like the Alta frames will likely be more rigid. Overall, more race-oriented.
