Title: Brake light connector?
Post by: Crissa on June 22, 2020, 06:42:14 AM
So I was looking inside the tail today to figure out how to replace my broken turn stalk (the light still works) and I don't know what connectors these are:

Does anyone?  The three-pin is the brake light, it's very small and square and waterproof.  The single-pin ones have a little clip, too, and aren't waterproof.  I guess single pins is a way to avoid water build-up.

My spouse bought me Weiser Technik lights for the turn stalks and a Gear Brake nd I'll need to tie into that brake light cable somehow.

PS:  Gear Brake seems to be going out of business, as they're selling out their inventory?  So if you want one, they're super-cheap right now.

Pretty sure the three pin connector is one of these: http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/pdf/eng/eJWPF.pdf

I managed to find one photo of the turn signal connector on Google images but the page it leads me to won't load: http://en.hingfung.com/products_detail/productId=25.html

I suggest Posi-Tap https://www.posi-products.com/posiplug.html

or if your like me & insist on the most compact solution, I recommend  3m scotchlok wire tap ub2a https://www.google.com/search?q=3m+scotchlok+wire+tap+ub2a&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwivueSWpZTqAhWPhZ4KHTm0B0gQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=3m+scotchlok+wire+tap+ub2a&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQA1Dc1AtY3e0LYMj0C2gAcAB4AIABTYgB7wKSAQE1mAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWc&sclient=img&ei=-wvwXu_PKY-L-gS56J7ABA&bih=768&biw=1261&client=safari&hl=en-us
Note that you might have to get creative with these & I won’t guaranty that you will be able to make them work so may want to stick with Posi-Taps

Re Gear Brake.... $5 vs $60 :'( end of business fire sale

The connectors are documented on the unofficial manual: https://zeromanual.com/wiki/SDS_Platform/Tail_Wiring

Idk if this will help, but I couldn't find any of those Molex barrel connectors for sale in small quantities, so I designed my own to be 3d printed. I used these to install an aftermarket light and signals without hacking up the harness. They worked perfect.

Closest I can find are these Ducati connectors:  http://www.cycleterminal.com/jst-jwpf.html

I can't find any Honda ones that match.

As per the link I posted, it's a JWPF connector. The 2 pin version is common on some bikes as the turn signal connector (obviously no good for a brake light), searching for Suzuki or Honda brake light connectors turns up a ton of different connectors so I don't know if I'd call it "standard".

I'll update it when someone confirms fitment. Sometimes the manual contains hearsay for way too long.

I guess I'll just have to get a handful or... Hmm.  I could ask my neighbor.
