Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Seat seam seal
« on: September 01, 2022, 12:31:13 AM »
2020 SR/F (purchased in 2019)

I have a seam on the side of the seat that allows rainwater in.
Then for the next week it allows water out onto my pants.

I have watched a few videos and plan on tackling this myself.

Remove the seat cover
- Seat off
- Remove staples with flat screwdriver and pliers
Seal the seam from the inside
Replace the seat cover
- Tack seat cover at front and back with 1 or 2 staples
- Pull sides and staple
- If wrinkles, consider removing staples at front and/or rear and re-pulling and stapling

2 questions for anyone who has done this.

1. What product do you recommend for sealing?  Absolutely each video I watched recommends a different product.

2. Any gotchas on the process I should be aware of?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2020 SR/F front brake pulsing
« on: June 29, 2022, 08:25:29 AM »
11.5k miles on my 2020 SR/F and I can feel the brakes pulse or surge with each revolution especially as you come to a stop.

I did search through the forum.  I will clean with denatured alcohol.  But in case I need to buy pads and rotors, I started looking at AF1Racing.
I could not find the rotor.
And I found many options for the pads.
Can anyone link me to the rotors and give advice on which pads to get?
I would rather have the right one than the cheapest one.

Edit:  I guess this is the rotor

How long did you end up waiting?

My falling blood sugar was telling me that we fiddled with all the bikes for about 17 hours.  But I think it was waiting for the 60 second mark for that last station to behave.

My comments were for better aero for better range.
I should have also included reverse.

Did that one have a Power Tank?  Perhaps the only one in the group that did?
No, it was the charging station.  We tried several combinations of bikes and taps and all failed until someone thought to extend the wait time dramatically.
Then, boink!  Charging.

On a group ride we had a line of bikes charging at a line of chargers.
All but one hooked up following the existing protocol.  One gave us fits.  Plug in the TeslaTaps and wait 30 seconds, then plug in to the bike.  Nothing.
Several attempts with several different TeslaTaps.  Several cycles of increasing the  wait time.  It was not until we waited more than a full 60 seconds before plugging in to the bike that it started charging.
Then lunch.  Lunch was extra tasty because I was starving by that point!

So, extend the wait time if you do not succeed the first time.

I just received my certified letter today.  Had to sign and everything.
Same content as the email.

Not for me.
85% target.
At 85% it goes boink and stops.
I'll be shopping at Whole Foods or wherever has free chargers and get a text message that it has stopped.
Or at home on the wall outlet.
But it stops for me at the target %%% (SR/F)

We have this topic in "Electric Motorcycle News" twice already :)
Actually, it was here yesterday.  Then gone this morning.  I assume it was moved to the News section but I only check this forum.  I did not know there was a new section at all.

Out of curiosity; is that rust on your side stand?
I have a similar amount of rust on my SR/F.

I bought a bag of 50 of these 6" bungee balls from amazon for $13.88
I keep one wrapped around the reservoir.
Wrapping it around the brake handle acts as a parking brake.
Test the hold.  You might have to wrap tighter to get it to hold confidently on the incline you are on.

I am not all that happy with the SR/F's rear brake, it really seems weak to me
+1 my SR/F brake has always made me feel underwhelmed.
I think I need to turn off traction control and test it to see if that is the issue.
Sorry for the tangent conversation to the original thread.

More tests.
Swap riders as others have suggested.
Have the taller rider tuck to get the same frontal area.
