Title: Throttle adjustment
Post by: kensiko on October 30, 2013, 09:39:30 PM
When I tried a Zero S, I found the throttle (or whatever you call it) to get pretty quick at max. Can you adjust it? Is it a cable like ICE bikes or it's a pot with an electric wire?

I plan to buy the demo I'm looking for soon, I'm waiting to see what's new in 2014 next week and I will decide to buy the demo 2013 or wait 2014. If I get the 2013, I will probably want to adjust the throttle.

Basically this. The throttle then runs into the MBB, and then on into the Sevcon controller.
There are more on this board who know more about this than I (Harlen and Doctorbass for example), but my understanding is that if you want to alter the throttle response, then you'll need to reprogram the Sevcon controller.

You can do this through the bikes Canbus port, but you'll need the correct (IXXAT) Canbus dongle, and a copy of the Sevcon software.

Check with your dealer before doing this, as this is probably a warrenty ending move.

I see, it could just be better to get used to it.

Or you could just run it in Eco mode and use the mobile phone app to adjust the torque setting to your comfort zone. Eco mode is at 40% by default, you could lower it to 30 or 20 easily. The setting changes the torque ramp slope directly (relation of handlebar rotation to torque).

I'll see to that, if my slow phone can handle it (Galaxy 551).

It is possible to program different characteristics - see Photo.

Maybe your Dealer can do but you have to be carefully the "Wire-Off" protection depends on this values and if set wrong you will get a Shut-off when "open full" your throttle!
