Need to rebalance your battery? SOLUTION
« on: April 22, 2013, 06:39:56 AM »

Hi guys,

This problem have been adressed for a while about some previous battery problem falling out of balance or for people that replaced some bank in their packs for repair or people that had overdischarged battery due to too long storage perriod.

On the Endless-Sphere forum we are couples of guys that found a great, effective and efficient  solution to actively rebalance your pack usng a tool at  a great price.

This tool is  an active 6s  insividual charger that can charge, discharge and balance at a rate up to 8A !! wich is by far faster than many BMS that are under 1A balance by using  bleeding resistor. This cahrger actually charge thru the balance leed at up to 8A!!

The best fast way i have found is to use this great Charger in Charge mode.

The cahrger is the BC168 and is availlable on ebay for about 95$ shipped. It work on 12V and need about 20A.. wich can be supplied by a simple conputer power supply or a 12V lead acid battery with a low rate 20A charger.

The way to rebalance your battery is as simple as connecting the balance lead of this charger directly to your cell bank in teh right order, than asjust de dedired top voltage and amp and pres Charge !.. that's it !.. no noed a bulb for bleeding the high cells at a risk of forgeting it and damaging your cell bank... this charger is fully protected and will stop the charging process of all cell bank at 6s at a time.

The individual cell voltage can be set at 0.01V accuracy and it really give you a  balance result at 0.001V accuracy!! wich is fantastic tool!

It precisely measure the voltage of all 6 channel by stoping the charge current and it measure the relaxing time of the voltage to stabilize and with this slope, it determine the real voltage of all cell channel wich is incredibly effective!.

You can also type BC168 on youtube for some exemple.

sounds like a cool tool, but how is this done in real life?
You remove the motorcycle seat, fairing, etc and take out the battery?
Then once you have the battery removed, you have to open up the case. scrape off the hot glue, remove the shrink wrap?
Hook up 6 cells, charge/balance them. Mark them with a marker so you do not charge them twice.
but if you have 14 cells in series, what do you do with the remaining two?

Maybe there is an easier way?

you should be able to connect it to each bank of cells rather than each individual cell itself
