General Discussion / Re: 900 Fast chargers per week?
« on: March 02, 2024, 04:14:12 PM »
Aaron, In the case of a ChargePoint CCS charger near me the latch on the plug has been broke for over a year now. I notified ChargePoint on 19 January 2023 of this problem. It has yet to be fixed and seems to be abandoned.

weck, I have mine on the upper body of the shock and also tilted outward slightly to help illuminate the inside of turns better. I also have one spot and one flood lense installed.

Aaron, Yes I do high beams the same way, hold the selector in with the side of my finger when I need them. That way you eliminate the huge shadows you have when you are using the high beams without the low beams on. It really makes me wonder if anyone in Italy actually rode the bikes at night before making a decision on these headlights.

For power I connect to the wires that power the USB plug.

Completely agree the stock Energica headlights suck. I have the Denali D2 light pods on my Ribelle and KTM SA 1290. They work well and have never had any issues with them. https://twistedthrottle.com/shop/lighting/auxiliary-lights/driving-lights/denali-d2-2-0-led-light-pod-with-datadim-technology-2/

My bike is charging now and turned the grips on to see if they would heat but so far nothing.

Electric Motorcycle News / Re: Zero MMX in military use

They didn't say much about the real reason the Zero's make sense for recon and certain other missions: The bottom line is they are a lot quieter than gas bikes. You can only increase the size of mufflers to a certain point on gas bikes before they start robbing power. Yes there are range limitations but they are easier to manage than the noise of a gas bike.

General Discussion / Re: EV vs new ICE model ranges

Aaron, There is a ChargePoint CCS charger near me that has been broke since 19 January 2023. It is just the latch that connects to your charging port that is broken but it would not allow power to flow when broken. ChargePoint has yet to do anything about it and after this long can only assume that ChargePoint has abandoned the charger. I think in the end Tesla will drive a lot of charging companies in bankruptcy. Who wants to charge at a 50kW charger that may or may not work when you can go to a reliable 150/250kW charger.

Energica / Re: My 1st Attempt to do a Saddle Sore 1000 on Experia
« on: December 09, 2023, 05:25:37 AM »
I think if you want to do a SS1000 on an Energica you have to find an Eva 107. Yes the battery pack is smaller than current Experia's or Ribella's. But the Eva 107 had air vents in the center of the battery pack which made a big difference in cooling the battery when you were doing multiple fast charges. Fast charging was a lot faster just because you didn't have the heat build-up and the slow down in charging speed that you have with current models.

Energica / Re: So I think they updated my bike
« on: December 02, 2023, 04:13:22 AM »
Aaron, I also have a Ribelle RS. Please post if you see any issues that may be related to the new firmware. I took one for the team here with jumping on the firmware that caused the "Key not in Range" problem and will not do that again.

I agree the Ribelle RS needs more top end on it.

Lightning / Re: Whatever Happened to Lightning Motorcycles?

No, Energica doesn't do any bike setup for east coast bikes at Mooresville. Everything that gets delivered to the east coast get shipped from California. The containers are not broken down into east coast/west coast so everything gets shipped to CA and then sorted out.

Energica / Re: Replaced keyless module and now she won't arm.

So maybe now is a good time to think about going back to a keyed system. I have no regrets at all and it works flawlessly. At least you didn't have to pay for the new keyless system you installed. My keyless system was flawless to, no error messages and always started up on the first push until I updated the firmware and then all of the troubles started. The "Key not in Range" messages began, multiple times per ride and it took 2-3 attempts on average to get it to start. I kept hoping the next firmware update would fix all of it but here we are, over two years since the problem began and no solution to the issue.

smithy, The "Key not in range" issue began with a firmware update back in April, 2021. It is not a hardware issue. Since the keyless system on the Experia is likely the same as a Ribelle when the firmware for the Experia was created they likely used the same bad software code for the keyless system. I switched to a keyed system because I got tired of it and it didn't seem like Energica was ever going to fix it.

Having the brake light come on during regen has been a feature for many years. I tested that out on my Eva 107 back in 2018. Not sure about the brake light flashing but it definitely came on.

I see this all the time. My GPS is connected to the USB plug and it is common for the GPS not to turn off after it gets turned on by the self-check or whatever it is called. I have a keyed system.
