Title: First time to 00%
Post by: JaimeC on July 25, 2016, 01:36:23 AM
Well, I finally did it... ran the battery down to 00% today.  Total miles: 92 on mostly highway, but I did the final 36 miles on surface streets (holding my breath the whole way).  About three miles from home, the battery read out went to 00%, but oddly enough the range readout was telling me I had four miles left.  I made it all the way home just fine.

2016 Zero S with the 13 kWh battery (no power tank).

Thankfully, remaining mileage is actually an understandable figure: it's based on minimum safe operating voltage rather than the capacity estimate. If you're in an emergency, set up the mobile app to show battery pack voltage on the dash display, and mind how it drops approaching 0% and then beyond.

I wrote this up vaguely at http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Common_problems#Low_SoC (http://zeromanual.com/index.php/Common_problems#Low_SoC)

I don't recall exact voltage where the battery will completely cut out; overheard it from someone knowledgeable but forgot by the time I wrote down the theory.

The phone app was actually showing 4%, IIRC.
