Buy Sell Trade / SOLD - FS: 2015 Zero S in SF Bay Area

I'm considering selling my 2015 Zero S 9.4.
Changed jobs and no longer need it for commuting.
16k miles without a single issue and put on new tires (same as stock, Pirelli Sport Demon) in November 2018.
On-board charger has been stopping charge at ~89% lately, so it might need replacement at some point.
The QuiQ charger (included) charges to 100% without problem.

It includes:
- Zero top rack and Givi V40 top case
- QuiQ charger

My onboard charger is almost dead (only charges up to 85-89%), so I only use the QuiQ charger at home.
It behaves in every way (displays charge status, estimated time to 100%, etc..) as the onboard charger used to when it was still healthy.
The only difference is that I need to key on before plugging in (but I can turn off and remove the key after charging begins).

It'd be great for everybody to have another player entering the market soon. I really hope you will succeed!

Here is another data point for your survey:
Millennial using a 2015 Zero S ZF9.4 as a daily commuter. ~15k miles in 3 years.
What's important:
- Convenience. The least possible amount of regular maintenance and being able to do it myself (i.e. tire pressure, brake fluid. No things like "motor commissioning and timing"). I love the idea of using OTS components as much as possible. For everything else, please consider shipping parts directly to customers!
- Quiet! I love being able to leave early in the morning without waking up the whole neighborhood.
- Range at highway speed of ~100 miles (i.e. fairing).
- Being able to plug in at both regular 110 V outlets and L2 charging stations.
- Torque/power/handling: a slight upgrade from the Zero S would be nice. Top speed doesn't matter beyond 80-85 MPH.
- Reasonable passenger seat (the Zero S' one is not too bad, actually).

NOT a priority (especially if driving cost up):
- fast charging.
- traction control.
- reverse.
- any other fancy upgrade that sounds awesome, but doesn't really add anything to daily use.

I'm excited for a potentially broader choice for a new bike in 2019!!

Also, I'm not sure that one can take Hollywood Electrics' business model for granted. The fact that they picked up the Ubco 2x2 and have generally tried to diversify over the years suggests that they'd feel more secure without having to rely on Zero so strongly for servicing revenue, because (from what I've gleaned) Zero's dealership sales and servicing deals aren't exactly generous.

With HE's business model, I'm referring to the focus on (diversified) electric mobility on two (or less) wheels in urban context. It seems more sustainable because they are familiar with the core technology -batteries, motors and controllers- and, on the business side, with the target customers, mainly urban commuters with an interest in new/green technologies. In addition, they are used to working with smaller startups.

There must also be a turning point for Zero where direct sale and service (maybe only for the electrical aspects) becomes a more efficient and profitable solution. I wonder if Zero is looking into it and if the current sale numbers are close to that point.

Honestly it doesn't make sense to me that traditional motorcycle dealers would carry Zero with lower sale margins and service revenues (and often without in-house technical expertise).

The Hollywood Electrics' seems a much better business model, and it shows. It's ludicrous that it's easier to get Zero parts/accessories from HE than from Bay Area dealers a few miles away from the factory!

Should I expect the dealer to charge the bike? Given the exorbitant amount of money I am charged for the yearly service ($230, I know it's the Bay Area, but still...) I would expect at the very least to find the bike fully charged.

However, they consistently don't do it.
My dealer is at the edge of my round-trip range (~37+37 miles, I have a 2015 Zero S 9.4), so if it's slightly colder or there is some head-wind I can't make it in a single charge.
The first time (~1 year ago) I thought it was just a misunderstanding and didn't complain too much. They let me plug in for 30 minutes or so (they were about to close shop at the end of the day) and that was enough for me to get back with a few percent of battery left.

This year, aware of the problem, I explicitly asked that they plug in the bike before and after servicing and I was reassured that they will certainly do so. When I picked up the bike this morning (they kept it overnight, so they just needed to plug it in in the evening!), it was exactly the same SoC as I left it the day before (~48%). When I complained, they were somewhat apologetic about it and plugged in with a quick charger. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to wait long, guesstimated that 54% SoC (~30 minutes 2.6 kW charging) would be enough and made it to work with 2% SoC left.

Now, what is the experience people have with dealers? Should I find a better one for next year (I have one other option at the ~same distance) or just suck it up? Do we consider charging a courtesy not to be taken for granted or it should be expected as part of the servicing?

Indeed "at what speed" is the key question! Tesla, with the Model 3, is aiming for an extremely low drag coefficient (~0.2?).
The Chevy Bolt doesn't seem particularly aerodynamic, especially in the rear side with that bulky trunk.

These screens don't mention which kit they ship with. Did you have to specify mounting hardware options when you ordered?
Indeed the one from amazon doesn't come with the correct mounting kit. Or at least it didn't for me...and the customer service wasn't able to help.
I ended up buying the kit that looked right (still not the same as Doug, I suspect) separately. However. it lasted only ~3-4 months, then one of the supports broke (maybe stress from turbulence-induced vibration?).
Overall, I'm not happy with this windscreen, and I took it down. However, I should mention I'm not too keen  on tinkering with this kind of stuff.

Also, do you get any buffeting with it? I think you mentioned in another post you "don't mind some buffeting at the head to be able to see above the screen". How high does this screen come to your eyesight in normal upright riding position?
Quite a lot of buffeting at highway speed in upright position in my case. And noise. I'm 5'10. However very nice protection and quiet when in a tuck.

I assumed charging will be available? I'm thinking about going, but only if I can come back!  ;)

What about daytime rain or snow? Has this caused harm in anyone's case? Not talking about low traction commuting, more about water logged connections throwing codes or bricking the bike.

I try to unplug when there is heavy rain...but a few times I forgot or couldn't get to the bike because I was stuck in meetings, and I had no errors or consequences of any kind (it' a Zero S 2015). Downpours are not common here in California, though. The bike has never experienced snow.

If your one way commute is <30% of the range, it works great. You want the 30-40% buffer to run errands or occasional short trips during the weekend.

It has worked for me in the past 1.5 years.
The only inconvenience I've experienced has been when I took it to the dealer for the 4k miles service.
It's about 50 miles away and they didn't fully charge it afterwards. I had ~60% left that was just enough to get home.
So I had to leave my Zero charging at work overnight instead, have the wife pick me up, and get a ride for the following morning.

I guess the caveat is that you want to be sure you have emergency charging solutions where you are comfortable leaving your Zero overnight.

One other thing I learned about riding in the rain:  That storage pouch in the "tank?"  It AIN'T waterproof...  :-[

The windshield helps quite a bit with that. Since I've installed it, I don't find anymore a puddle at the bottom of the "tank" after rainy commutes.

I've no problem with the Physicists being kept in gainful employment and keeping our scientific base strong. I just think that their efforts could be focused on more worthwhile endeavors.

Sure, let it be the laymen who decide what are the "worthwhile endeavors" for scientists. After all, that's precisely how penicillin was discovered, or radiotherapy invented (who says Physicists don't cure cancer???).

I think I solved the mystery...
The windscreen should be the same (it's the SlipStreamer III S-03 from amazon you posted: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WK36BS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00), but they probably shipped it with the wrong installation kit.
This is the one I received:

Do you have a close-up picture, by any chance? I'm not sure I understand what you mean with "mounting tabs". In my installation kit the rods supporting the windscreen are locked in the bolts that lock the clamps around the fork tube. I'll post a picture when I get home.
