Buy Sell Trade / SOLD - FS: 2015 Zero S in SF Bay Area
« on: June 02, 2019, 05:19:35 AM »
I'm considering selling my 2015 Zero S 9.4.
Changed jobs and no longer need it for commuting.
16k miles without a single issue and put on new tires (same as stock, Pirelli Sport Demon) in November 2018.
On-board charger has been stopping charge at ~89% lately, so it might need replacement at some point.
The QuiQ charger (included) charges to 100% without problem.

It includes:
- Zero top rack and Givi V40 top case
- QuiQ charger

The bike is in Mountain View, CA.
If interested, make me an offer!

General Discussion / Should I expect the dealer to charge the bike?
« on: May 26, 2017, 04:16:55 AM »
Should I expect the dealer to charge the bike? Given the exorbitant amount of money I am charged for the yearly service ($230, I know it's the Bay Area, but still...) I would expect at the very least to find the bike fully charged.

However, they consistently don't do it.
My dealer is at the edge of my round-trip range (~37+37 miles, I have a 2015 Zero S 9.4), so if it's slightly colder or there is some head-wind I can't make it in a single charge.
The first time (~1 year ago) I thought it was just a misunderstanding and didn't complain too much. They let me plug in for 30 minutes or so (they were about to close shop at the end of the day) and that was enough for me to get back with a few percent of battery left.

This year, aware of the problem, I explicitly asked that they plug in the bike before and after servicing and I was reassured that they will certainly do so. When I picked up the bike this morning (they kept it overnight, so they just needed to plug it in in the evening!), it was exactly the same SoC as I left it the day before (~48%). When I complained, they were somewhat apologetic about it and plugged in with a quick charger. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to wait long, guesstimated that 54% SoC (~30 minutes 2.6 kW charging) would be enough and made it to work with 2% SoC left.

Now, what is the experience people have with dealers? Should I find a better one for next year (I have one other option at the ~same distance) or just suck it up? Do we consider charging a courtesy not to be taken for granted or it should be expected as part of the servicing?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Zero demographics
« on: March 21, 2015, 09:09:30 PM »
Inspired by a few (?) posts raising concerns about Zero reliability, I've setup a survey for Zero owners:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11R6MQTB4p8s7xGEKrwTEsIigJCayqZ9zUuuwA5X95FE/viewform

This should give us a more quantitative estimation of how Zeros are doing.
Please take the time (<1 minute) to answer even if you never had issues, so that we can limit the selection bias.
The link to the results appears once you submit the form.

If we collect enough statistics we will also be able to look at correlations wrt production year, location, etc...

Here are the results: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11R6MQTB4p8s7xGEKrwTEsIigJCayqZ9zUuuwA5X95FE/viewanalytics

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2014 S 11.4 or 2015 S 9.4?
« on: December 06, 2014, 04:47:51 AM »
So, I finally have to worry about actual purchasing options!

For approximately the same final out-the-door cost (15-16k):
- 2014 S 11.4 demo bike immediately available
- 2015 S 9.4 factory order, delivery sometime between January and March.

What would you recommend?

I'm leaning towards the 2014 one, mainly because I don't want to wait.
On the other hand, I suspect the price is a bit steep, all things considered.
Btw, is it normal that after taxes and fees the MSRP of $13,345.00 for the 2015 levitates to almost 16k (California, SF Bay area)?

General Discussion / Charging in a condo
« on: October 17, 2014, 04:46:13 AM »
Does anybody live in a condo? How do you charge your motorcycle?
From what I read on the internet people don't like EV owners very much (e.g. http://articles.latimes.com/2013/nov/17/business/la-fi-associations-20131117 )...

I read that somebody charges the motorcycle in his own apartment...is that feasible/practical? I guess people would be just as unhappy of having a neighbor carrying a motorcycle in the elevator.

How would you suggest to go about it?

Electric Motorcycle News / A Tesla motorcycle?

http://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-tesla-d-2014-10

Many comments on twitter and facebook suggest that the "something else" might be plans/projects for a motorcycle.
It would be great for the market development, but I find it hard to believe...thoughts?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / New rider and delivery time
« on: July 28, 2014, 01:52:53 AM »
Hi all,

I've been lurking in the forum for a while trying to gather information about the Zeros, but it's time to ask direct questions... :)

I will be moving to the SF Bay Area in a few months, i'll need to buy a vehicle for my ~10 miles commute, and my wife already has a car that we could use for longer trips. In addition, i never rode a motorbike before... --> From what I read, a Zero seems to be a perfect fit. In particular I'm thinking about the 2014 S ZF8.5...is it too ambitious for a beginner?

My main concern: how long will it take to become a proud owner?
Do dealers (I understand Mission Motorcycles in Daly City is where I want to go, right?) keep a few models in stock or it has to be ordered?
Once the order is placed, how long before delivery? Weeks? Months?
I'm afraid I won't last long with public transport, which means a >1 hr commute for ~10 miles.

Beside, will Zero still take orders for 2014 models in November/December?

I guess I will have to ask these questions to the dealer, when the time comes, but I'd love to hear what the owners experienced and recommend.

Thanks!
