I've heard that you can use the hard rack intended for the 2013 if you trim some of the plastic on the tail.

The 2012 S/DS manual mentions an "accessory port" on page 5-28 when discussing the Fuses. Where on the bike can I tap into this "accessory port"?

It's right under the tank cover. Just take off the seat and black center piece. Reach under the the fuse block and there are two wires (Blue and Black) that lead to a connector that is covered by a black rubber bung. It's about 13v when power is on.

No regen even after many miles. I loose about two to three bars each way. So I should have been at half full when I plugged in today.

Turned on my 2012 ZF6 S yesterday after a full charge. Noticed right away that there was no regen. Tried a few power cycles, nothing. The charging indicator showed 3 of 4 lights but the meter on the dash was full. Didn't charge and ride to work today and I still had full bars. WTF?

Check out a kill-a-watt wh meter. Very cheap on amazon.com

Do the fastening screws have a seating step on them?
No, they use these horrible plastic reusable rivits in most places. There are two screws that hold the tail down to the subframe, but they're fully threaded.
Sometimes I feel like I've bought a $2000 pit bike with a $10,000 battery.  :-\

Yeah, the plastic parts are pretty chintzy. By the way, be carful when unplugging the wires to the tail, the "subframe" is razor sharp and sliced open my thumb.

Actually, I just sold it. Sorry.

Basically brand new, no swirls or marks, Was only on the bike for 100 mi or so.
$100 + actual shipping.
Zero charges $280 for this setup.

« on: January 08, 2013, 07:23:23 AM »
Thanks kcoplan, I bought the windscreen and mounting kit and it is, as far as I can tell, the same one that Zero sells. It did seem to help with milage, and it did help stop the wind from trying to rip me off the bike on the freeway.
I am selling the screen though. I just don't like the way bikes look with a windscreen. I can't seem to get past it.

Very cool! ...So, how do I apply it? Is my tax person going to know?

Any news yet? When should we expect some movement on this bill?

Well, there has to be something they could do to lessen the blow.

Great, now my 2012 ZF6 will be worthless and impossible to sell, thanks Zero. They really need to do a buy back program if they're going to advance their bikes so drastically.

« on: October 11, 2012, 01:01:13 AM »
Played with the suspension a bit this morning. Sprayed the fork tubes with a bit of triflow.
I was surprised how little of a change I could feel in the forks between all the way in and all the way out on the adjusters. Maybe some thicker fork oil would help.
The adjustment I ended up with on the forks is:
- Compression 5 clicks out
- Rebound quarter turn out

The rear shock rebound only seems to have 3 of the 8 clicks of adjustment. I think I'll try to get a replacement. I put both adjusters all the way in. I plan to tighten the preload quite a bit soon.

This seemed to help a lot, my confidence was much higher in the turns and the washboard of a freeway felt much better.
