Title: 2014 S/SR rear shock length
Post by: evtricity on February 26, 2016, 05:59:41 AM
Does anyone know the length of the stock Fastace BDA58RC shock on the 2014 SR/S.

I'm looking at a replacement shock and the new Yamaha R3 uses a 277mm shock and there are some good aftermarket options for that shock (Ohlins, Mupo, JRI).

Thanks,
David

I can't answer your question, but I'm very interested if you find an aftermarket option. I've gone through two of the stock shocks in my 23,000 miles and I'll probably need another one by the end of the year. Since it won't be under warranty this time, I'll want to replace it with a good unit.

Please let us know if you find anything that works!

Hey guys, any luck with compatible aftermarket shocks?

... Although I'm looking for a replacement for a 2013 S.

Annoyed I need to replace it at only 6k miles.

I think Hollywood Electrics can answer this question and seems like they'll offer something publicly soon. Try contacting them.

I spoke with then on Saturday.  No mention of the Penske shock (Likely to be $700-$950 part).

Basically to replace with the stock shock is $300.

Does anybody have tips on how to remove the rear shock?

Is there a way to remove it without taking the (heatsink?) thing under the seat off?

I can see the nut in there, but no good way to get a wrench in.

The length on a 2013s is about 260mm.

Or between 10.25 to 10.5 inches.

Is there anything other than an R3 that uses a shock around 260-280mm?
