The Ducatis have traction control. The Energicas did not. The races are approximately 20 miles -- six to eight laps. They have two races on Saturday, qualifying on Friday. There's no siting or tire warmup laps - they pull off the tire warmers and race. It's very close racing because they are using the same bike. I like it because it's a riders class.

I went to the MotoAmerica race at The Ridge (Shelton Washington, USA) last summer and watched the lone Energica in the Hooligan class beat most of the ICE bikes. What a kick!

PArd, what rear shock did you go with in the end if you ditched the Ohlin?

Custom unit.  Wanted something with a hydraulic preload adjuster, separate compression and rebound adjustment hi/lo for each.

Yeah, you beat me to it :-)

Found it too.

OK, I'm good, now it is off to order-new-parts-land, and then do the job. I will NOT be ordering the Regina chain, mine is almost done after only 12 000 km...... Half the life I got out of the chain I used on my ZX14....

i think jotjotde created a excellent writeup on the Ribelle sprockets (specs and howto change) some time ago, check his post:

This post is about how I changed the front sprocket of my Ribelle. Most of this information was already posted somewhere, but it's hard to find, so I wanted to get all the relevant infos summarized in one go.

The RS Ribelle uses a 525 Chain, I ordered the 120 link one and cut it down.  I think it was 112 links in the new chain when I was done but just order the 120 to play it safe.  You can add or remove to suit your needs, especially if you changed sprocket arrangements you  may need a different number of links.

OK, thanx

And yeah, I can count the links, but the chain is still on the bike, so a bit of hassle that. I'll order a 525 chain.

However, I have another question: I know the rear sprocket has 44 teth, 100mm, and 5 m10 bolts. So, this is easy to find and order. The front should have 16 teeth, as far as I know (it is not an RS version). But is it a standard fitting, or something else? What I am looking for is what kind of front sprocket I need.

The reason I ask these questions is that the local dealer is expensive, and I try to order the parts myself. However, most motorcycle web shops here in Norway sort the parts by the type of bike. And the Energica is not listed (not common enough yet), but they will sell me the right parts if I know the specs.

So, I have the chain layed down, the rear sprocket is OK, only the specs of the front sprocket left....

Glad to hear you are having fun with your E bike!
At the end of the day, the fact we are lovin em is all that counts really.

Cool that the bike is still letting you romp on it, but DO be aware, this is not the best thing for your battery doing that and 2, the battery will go down even faster when it's already low than when it's got a better charge on it, so that 13 percent will drain out even faster than you can imagine!

Id make sure you got a good charge on it and let it do it's thing and get a nice balance at the top end and you should be fine.  I have Energica bikes and while they won't let you stomp them up to full speed, you can still reach it, albeit quite a bit slower than when they got a better charge on them.

Riding since a few weeks with the new Z-Force 17.3 kWh battery on my SR/F it was the first time last week that I needed to overtake a couple of cars going uphill, on a curvy road, and with 13% SoC left. Contrary to past years with the old 14.4 kWh battery it didn't force me into ECO mode. What a nice surprise! I've heard someone who went from a DSR to a DSR/X making the same observation, so not just me.

There's currently two batteries on Ebay for around £1k, a 14.4 on its own and a 7.2 with the charger and storage bin (off an S/DS). Both from low mileage bikes too. However they've been on there for quite a while and I highly doubt the sellers have been maintaining them, rather just letting them sit stuffed away in a corner, thus they're most likely junk by now and the sellers make no mention of voltages or how long they've been sitting or even that they might not be any good. Had someone snapped them up when they were first put on they may have got a bargain, but these batteries aren't the sort of thing you can leave sitting around for years until they're needed.

The text article is not worth much besides the weight distribution.  2 seconds faster than a sort of street bike Energica but how long is the course for those not following the series.   The video is great in my estimation.  Makes me wonder what the traction control rules are in motorcycle road racing.  Is it still AMA rules?
