Energica / Re: Heart Beat function on my Energcia Esse Esse 9+ RS
« on: April 30, 2024, 11:23:10 AM »
Fortunately, this forum has a nice feature - you can post pictures  ;D ;D ;D

Below you see the carbon cover and my '22 Ribelle (not a good view on the cover, but I think this should do).
If you have the standard black cover with the LED, the reason why you shouldn't be able to activated them is maybe an old firmware version.
What version your bike is currently having? Latest number is xxxx.44 as far as I know. The '22 models originally had the xxxx.42.

With this being said it looks like I am going to be tearing up toe draggers instead of knee draggers until I figure something out here.  Is this something that is replaceable on a boot, or do they make a boot where it is replaceable?  Tires are expensive enough I really don't want to go thru a few boots a season as well.

Someone said to me that racing is one of the most effective ways to burn money  ;D

I guess for all Alpinestars boots are toe sliders available for replacement. I know for sure for SMX5 and SMX6 at least.
BTW Dainese have screw-ons, plastic and for some boots even metallic.

The fact that Energica put a warning into the software to tell you that you are doing that, kind of tells me that I am not the only person who ever did that a time or two !  :-X

Yep, guilty as charged. Did that when I had the bike for two weeks or so  ::)

Energica / Re: Chain Ticking
« on: April 22, 2024, 11:57:48 AM »
@Aaron, as you mentioned in an earlier post, you are not afraid of going around in wet conditions and you have to cope with dirty roads.
I totally agree with you that this is for sure a nasty combination shortening chain life significantly. It is only a matter of time until moisture creeps under the X-rings and corrupts the grease. Nanosized silica wears down the rings as well, so the process is self-accelerating.

A ticking chain is not dangerous in my view but going around with it for longer time wears down the sprockets. Re-using a chain I would not recommend. No lube job you can do on a chain can replace the old grease or remove the grit what crept underneath the seal rings.

In my view you have two options.
- Change the chain more often - but then you won't need 200 bucks top of the line stuff. Most chain manufacturers offer different qualities, so there's potential for saving some dollars.
- Install a permanent oiling device. The Scottoiler won't work bc it needs suction from the air intake of the ICE, so as far as I know you would need a Cobrra oiler.

Riveting a new chain is something I haven't done yet, I use an Enuma chain (Japanese manufacturer), they have a patented screw link. Installation was a breeze and it still looks good after approx. 7,000 km now.

Energica / Re: Rear Brake Disc for Ribelle
« on: April 04, 2024, 06:24:26 PM »
@Pard: Thx for your quick reply!

What you quoted (discs are unique OEM stuff) appears correct for the rear disc.
The front discs are quoted in the Brembo catalogue for the Energica Eva EsseEsse (see attached PDF), so they fit the Ribelle as well. Brembo product no. is 78B408B2.

Energica / Rear Brake Disc for Ribelle
« on: April 04, 2024, 03:48:53 PM »
Does anyone have the specs for the rear brake disc for a '22 Ribelle besides the diameter of 240 mm?

It should be an OEM Brembo disc, but in the Brembo catalogue I cannot find anything. Is there the possibility to order somewhere else bsides via my Energica dealer?

Thanks for your input!

Energica / Re: Front Sprocket Change / Eva Ribelle RS MY22

Thanks @SBK for pointing that supplier out.

Another alternative for the AFAM could be Superlite RSX SKU#92630RX (US-supplier) or from Supersprox (UK-supplier) who offer even custom-made stuff.
You need a sprocket for 525 chains, 44 teeth (for Ribelle), inner hole Ø76mm, bolt circle Ø100mm and 5 bolt holes Ø10.5mm.
I ordered a red-colored rear sprocket from them, but manufacturing time will be about 3-4 months (!).

For most people motorbikes are something they own just for fun. As it appears to me, it is often the third or fourth motorised vehicle in a household and not doing more than 2000 km a year. It makes less fun if you look at the cost  ;D

And the vast majority of people do NOT own a motorbike, so it is getting no attention in the mainstream media in the need to sell ads.

Some food for thought: In our modern times, motorbiking might appear as something archaic and the total opposite of plushy fully automated five-star safety airbagged car riding. Electric or not makes no difference.

Energica / Re: Charging Plug Indicator
« on: March 25, 2024, 12:12:38 PM »
Totally agree!

Just thinking, while they are at it, they could reinforce the whole charge slot at bit. When I need to CCS my Ribelle on a 150 or 300 kW charger the cables are so stiff and heavy I can actually see how the weight pulls the slot to the side. That can't be healthy!
If Energica removes that blingy flashing logo that no one needs from the 'tank' top, that even could be done without a cost increase.

Is this OnStar installed in every car? I thought this 'online service' is usually something you have to pay extra for. So, I never tick that option in the list  :D

Cas is right, that practice is not allowed in Europe (finally one thing they did right in Brussels).
I've read Italian insurance company Generali reduces your insurance premium if you agree to install a black box in your car and thus prove you are driving safe. I wonder if they would notice if I put that box in the Smart my mum while I burn rubber at the racetrack  8)

Thanks guys for solving that riddle!
I suspected that simple physics is behind that...

What you all say is Oh So True  ;D  Humans are hunter-gatherers, so we like to have shiny new things and collect them.

Personally, I am looking forward what Ducati's next move will be. With their engagement in the Moto E GP it would be probably idiotic to not monetise the know-how gained there.

Thus I am expecting them to come up with a beautifully designed electric motorbike with at least the performance of an Energica within the next two years. I hope, I will not be dissapointed!

TBH the best would be if Ducati would take over Energica. Pairing Energica's know-how with Ducati's design and distribution/sales/workshop network would be a dream come true (at least for me)  :)

Energica / Cruise Control while Cornering
« on: March 18, 2024, 01:14:26 PM »
If I see longer stretches of road ahead with not too sharp curves, I regularily use the CC for comfort.

I noticed that if the corner is a bit tighter, the speed decreases and picks up again afterwards and I wonder why is that. Agreed, that is nothing to worry about, but I am just curious.
Is there a special sensor detecting the lean angle of the bike? Is this a safety function?

Have the Quadlock "wireless charging" setup on my Experia...and all my other bikes too...it's nothing but brilliant IMHO.

Totally agree, I got the wireless charging head for Christmas and it's really nice!

Whether you really need that anti-vibration setup, I do not know. I used the Quadlock without it for my iphone 8 for about 25,000 km and the reason why I needed a new phone was because I dropped it (broken screen glass), not because of the bike's vibrations  ::)
