Title: Current / torque limit from stand-still in a DS 2017

Hi,

I recently bought a 2017 DS, the 13kwh version.

I noticed the bike limits how much torque produces from stand-still up to 50 or so km/h. Is this possible? or it´s just a feeling I have?.

I did a couple of long test rides of a 2019 DS 14.4 and 2019 FX this past weekend.

A few things stuck out to me as differences:

- How much more comfortable the DS seat was
- How much faster the FX battery drained on the same route
- How much more nimble the FX was
- How much more plush the FX suspension was
- How much more pull the DS had at 40 mph
- How much more torque the FX had off the line

Not sure why the difference in torque was there, but it was.  From a dead stop, the FX took off immediately.  On the DS, it sort of eased into the power and then around 30-40 mph, it really kicked in and pulled harder than the FX did from the same speed.

Also, the Eco mode of both bikes was substantially different.  The Eco versus Sport mode on the DS had a much bigger variance of power than the same modes on the FX.  I could go wide open throttle on the DS in Eco mode from every stop sign where on the FX, I had to temper the throttle a bit even in Eco mode.  So much so that I doubt I'll switch to Sport mode on the FX unless I'm drag racing someone.

Sounds logic.
They programmed them differently.
The FX(S) is the more play/hooligan bike.
The DS(R) is his bigger brother who was 1 time like him.

And yes, the DS(R) and S(R) are programmed to not give you all at lower speeds for safety.
Maybe ask Brandon from Diginow for more details.
He can 'tune' them I believe.

Have you tried connecting the app to check yourself?  With my FXS, I have held the front brake while applying throttle and watching the app.  It will, indeed, indicate full torque at a stop.  I don't have a DS to try the same thing, but I would be interested to hear if the results are different with other bikes.

Hummmm, doesn´t sound a very safe thing to do... but I can tell the on-board display shows full torque and full Power from the beginning. I use to take a look at it when applying WOT from a stop.

Agreed with the safety feature, although I think they fell too much on the safe side on the DS.
It`s odd they did noy implement at least a basic traction control instead of doing this... They have it all there, the ABS sensors, the controller to implement it, an electronic throttle, a nearly instant means to modify motor output...
