Title: 2018 S and SR change from sport touring to touring riding position

New Model S owner here. Love the moto, but would prefer a more upright riding position. My local dealer sez no can do due to short cables/wiring. I wrote to Zero, who wrote back "add a DS bar", but that might crash against the same issue.
I know the 2018s are new, but eventually clever people will find solutions.
Or not.
Yo Zero: People who can afford your bikes tend to be older and better off with an upright rather than sport touring cockpit. Are you listening?

That's why I ended up with a DSR, I liked the riding position better.  I put 90/10 tires on it this year for better road handling (I do very little non pavement riding).  Good luck!

Perhaps you could invest in a longer brake line, in addition to the DS bars? The brake line from the front master cylinder goes into the bodywork and is likely connected to the ABS pump. You might want to investigate that routing to see if there is enough additional slack in the brake line under the side fairing to accommodate a higher set of bars. Regarding the throttle wires: I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the they are the same length on both the S and DS models as it wouldn't make economic sense for Zero to have two wire lengths for an item like that. At least there is no clutch cable to replace.  ;)

It is the case that the DSR has a better touring posture. I thought that bar risers were installable if you loosen the routing of the lines, but I may again be focusing on the DS(R).

If there is any difference between the 2017 and 2018 bars and cables, I can't see it.  ;)

I added 2" Rox risers on my '17 SR. That's about the max you can go without modding the wiring. The bend of the factory bars doesn't seem to mesh well with the risers. I had to rotate them so far forward to get the wrist angle I like it defeated some of the benefit of the risers. I may try to find a Protaper bar that has the rise built in and a better angle on the grips.
I also added a Corbin saddle. It is much more comfortable and doesn't slope toward the front like the stock seat. My next add (after the diginow chargers) will be an extremely aerodynamic fairing for better highway range.

I put on the ROX risers as well, the new position is fabulous for this old guy.  Didn't need to move any likes  on my 16' SR.
