It is technically possible to reach the locking mechanism with a hook, but you'd have to know exactly where to reach and what it looks like.  I've had the fairing off, it's not terrible.  And I would like to add a hidden non-key way to open the box, for access while riding.  I made some mental notes on possible options, but ... have forgotten them all.  You might also be able to simply loosen and pry open the side plastic to reach up.  The mechanism is simple, and if you can reach it, you can pull the unlock cable on the back of the lock.  The latch is below the charger area, I think, which is a pain to remove.

This is what you need: https://youtu.be/flno2wFReyc?si=LaLQMY7n5WJWlbd8

Buy Sell Trade / Screw Tray Organizer for Zero Motorcycles SR/S 2021
« on: January 13, 2024, 12:01:23 AM »
I made these 3D printed trays to make working on the bike easier. It helps keep the screws organized and prevents them from rolling away

I bought this for my 2021 SR/S and it fit perfectly. The smallest pin in the set worked for my bike.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Replacement brake disk for 2020 SRS
« on: August 07, 2021, 02:28:33 AM »
EBC rotors, Yamaha bolts, Galfer organic pads…

So far so good. The organic pads have a lot less bite but modulation is really good. Regen is strong enough to do most of my braking anyway so think the organic pads are better suited for my needs. Will report back after a few thousand miles.

2021 SR/S owner here and I have the same problem. Brakes were amazing when new but now pulse really bad especially at low speeds. With each pulse I can literally feel it in the brake lever from fluid being forced backwards into the master cylinder. I measured the thickness of the rotors at a few different spots and noticed it varied by as much as 0.5mm

Looking to replace the rotors with a different brand so if anyone has luck with a particular one please post it here.

I am the original owner. I bought the bike in 2013. I put 40k miles on the bike and then in 2015 the bike got shipped back to California and got a new MY15 12.5kWh battery put in it as part of the battery upgrade program. Since then I put another 40k miles on the bike. The bike has been garage kept it's whole life. I followed Zero's battery guidelines exactly and babied it but despite this, the bikes range is only about 50 miles per charge around the city due to battery degradation. Zero said that updating the firmware might improve the range due to improvements in the battery management algorithms. The last time the firmware was updated was in 2015 when the bike was getting its new battery. The bike is completely stock other than heated grips and pained front forks. The bike is in good condition and has no error codes. The tires are almost new.

Update: now it’s refusing save and update again with any amount of characters. So I have no idea what’s causing this.

9
Did you try adding a name of at least 3 characters? And then check if saving that mode does any good.

A name of 3 characters didn’t work, 4 characters didn’t work, but 5 characters worked!
I double and triple checked and it would appear that you need at least 5 characters for the save and update button to work.

Thank you so much!

2021 SR/S

I’ve had the same exact problem. It seems like it’s a glitch with the app.

Buy Sell Trade / WTB stock charger OR delta Q for 2014+ S/SR/DS
« on: June 16, 2019, 01:11:57 AM »
The onboard charger for my 2015 SR failed and need a replacement. I am looking for a used stock one or even a used delta q quick charger to get my bike working again.

Thanks

Yikes well there's your problem. That's definitely bent out of shape.

This is the product I used. I have it installed on the tank part, not the lid. I used superglue on the flange of the gasket material to secure it to the inside rim of the tank. It sounds low tech but it has worked for years now.

Zero's design is a little different because they tried to use the lid as the "gasket" part. It might be possible to glue the gasket material to the rim of the lid on a 2017 bike but the gasket might be too thick and not allow the lid to close all the way.

Alternatively, I would recommend using this:

https://m.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=70987166

But they sell thinner versions of it. It has adhesive on the back so you just peel and stick. I would stick it on the tank portion. There's a nice flat surface to stick it to.  It's flexible so you can curve it around the corners. The rim of the lid should pressed against it when its closed and make a waterproof seal.

But like I said, the product I linked is probably too thick but I know for a fact they sell thinner versions of it in the store. They also sell them in "closed cell" or "open cell" variants. The "closed cell" variant is the waterproof one.

Zero's lockable tank was largely based off the one that I made. If you notice in the picture, mine has a gasket seal. Zero probably didn't include this to save on cost and complexity of manufacturing but you can buy gasket material at Ace Hardware and install it your self. Look in the weather stripping for doors section.

I live in Florida and have driven through some pretty serious storms and the storage compartment stays bone dry.

I needed this battery and never knew it existed. I'm glad I saw your video, and not just because I want keyless start on my bike. I'm going to use the battery to power a PocketFinder vehicle tracker when the bike is off. I think now you're charging the it off the DC:DC converter. Did you consider charging off the AC port using the AC adapter instead and if so what were the drawbacks? Unfortunately, I'm not sure I ride enough to keep the Talentcell fully charged.

I'm also glad I found this battery! It's honestly the perfect thing for those of us who want an always on 12 volt source!

To be honest, I never even thought about using the AC port to charge this battery bank! That's a great idea! The only drawback I can think of for your application is: it's going to be really difficult to tap into the bike's AC port. Those wires are heavy duty and well protected. Not to mention they are hidden behind the frame of the bike and hard to get to. Zero also recently changed their charging recommendations. It's no longer recommended to keep the bike plugged in all of the time when not in use.

I don't think I would use the AC port only to charge the battery for my keyless system though because when the bike is ON it's using more power than usual because it's powering two relays. And if I'm charging my phone, it's drawing even more power for that. So I personally think charging the battery from the bike's 12 volt DC:DC is the way to go for my application. Then you never have to worry about the additional power consumption when the bike is on.

I guess the ideal solution would be to have it charge from the AC port when the bike is off and plugged in, and have it also charge from the bike's 12 volt DC when the bike is on.
