Title: Where is the accessory power?
Post by: MorbidBBQ on June 24, 2016, 10:19:32 PM
I've searched the forums, official owners manual, and unofficial owners manual site.

Still can't find either of the 2 accessory power cables.

Any hints?

2013 S, with the 2015 battery.

Under the tank plastic. You couldn't find it based on the pics I posted here?

Nope, do I need to take the tank plastic off to get there?  I thought it was off to the side under the seat below the plastics.

On my '14 SR, it's in front of the void in the plastic false tank that exists for the stock removable tank bag.  In there, I found a sumitomo connector that was protected with a rubberized cover, and an SAE connector slathered in dielectric grease.

Ok, I found the sumitumo connector... Maybe I have to cut the wire bundle open

Yes. The tank plastic needs to come off.

Yep... almost there...the SAE should be in the bundle.

Hmmm... Not in the bundle.
I see the turn signal flasher, and some other things in not sure about.

I took a pic of the wires, but I don't know if it will be helpful.

Should be inside the orange bundle on the left side of the bike. Break the zip ties and you should find it in there (near the red circle in the first pic).

I used to have a 2013 S, I don't think the 2013's had an SAE connector from the factory.  I think you had to get the accessory rail from Zero and connect it to the sumitomo connector.

I suppose this wasn't easy enough to find or not clear enough:

Can you think of a good suggestion on how to word it? I'll find a photo I've taken on my 2016 to clarify a little bit more.

I've always wondered about this myself, but hadn't got round to searching.

I think the accessory power heading under common modifications is about as clear as you can get.  What we need is a search button labelled: Can't see for looking. Once clicked, it instructs the user to drink a beer and try again! [emoji6]

I the 2013 S just doesn't have the SAE connection.  Unless its hiding elsewhere.  I looked for a sumitomo connector at the local auto parts store, but they didn't have it.  Looks like ill be splicing it.

Good point! I forgot that SAE was introduced in 2014. I'll update the wiki.

However, Sumimoto can be ordered from Eastern Beaver:

I've updated the accessory power section and aftermarket section with Eastern Beaver links and Patrick Truchon's accessory blog posts.
