Title: Rear Brake Flasher
Post by: Ranga on January 19, 2016, 07:57:59 AM
I'm shopping around for a strobe modulator for my rear brake light.  I'm seeing prices anywhere between $10 and $70. Does anyone have a suggestion? It has to be small enough to fit under the seat of an FX.

I put a Tailblazer 20d on my FX, just replaces bulb. Strobes to flash to solid halogen bulb. I found some on the bay for $15 shipped usually $60-70.

I bought a GearBrake.

They have models fitted with the right plugs for Zero and it works well. Mine is on a DS, but assuming plugs are the same should be good to go. Very helpful team and tested on Zero's to ensure no interference with the Canbus - watch out for cheap electronics on that. Plenty of stories of LED headlights and other things generating RF noise and screwing with all sorts of things.

The Gearbrake seems like the best option but they don't make a harness for the '15 FX.

I spoke with the company. Their module is perfectly compatible with the FX, but they recommend against it because of its off-road nature. Jumps and hard bumps can trigger the sensor, and cause a miscommunication with anyone riding behind you.

Kudos on them for being an aftermarket company that pays attention to a manufacturer this small.
