Title: Converting my DS into a DSR
Post by: fritsches on August 12, 2018, 05:04:09 PM
I ride a 2014 DSP for about 3 years now and my son rides a 2014 S sice half a year. Recently I felt over an 2017 SR with 2000 km with an broken frame due to an accident. I bought the SR cheap an it was running an charging without any problem. So my Plan is to convert my DS to an DSR. stripped of the SR totaly and the plan is/was to change the complete electric of the DS into the SR in winter, because in Summer I use the DS every day. Today I took out both wheels on the DS, to change the tires tomorrow . So sitting there and looking at the bike I had the Idea to change just the Motor ,Belt and Controller which would be easy done within a few hours... The question is: would that work, due to the programming of the controller or will that be a problem due to the different Batterie (11,4 kwh vs 13 kwh) and BMS?
Any thought highly appreaciated!
Regards,
Andreas

Just my newb answer.
I think a 2017 R will also need the 13kWh, maybe not for technical side, but performance with a smaller battery isn't logical.

Personaly:
just use the DS frame and all other (newer) stuff from the SR: you know allready it works, don't mess with electronics on a Zero or it bites you.

found out that the Sevcon controller Gen4 does not fit into the upper frame rear section. So Zero made some minor but important modifications on the newer frames. so I put the hole project on hold until winter. :-\
