Parts, Mods And Hacks / Re: Improvement possible for 2017 ZERO

I don't think you see what you think you see. They were running a home built pack ~150V with a high voltage sevcon gen4.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

I stand corrected.

No its a longer brick Ive seen one at refuel; the fx platform only needs a tiny kick in the pants to be an amazing bike (for myself who has a power/throttle addiction just on the acceleration), maybe this will help close this gap, heck a little extra range never hurts

Unfortunately, in the past Zero has made it pretty clear they don't want to go to a higher voltage.  So unless they have had a change of heart I doubt we would see this improvement directly from Zero for a factory bike.
We both stand corrected on that bike, but I know what I saw at refuel, if were lucky maybe it will make it to all the bikes soon

You can gain with the battery without going to higher voltage

Did nobody notice?

Seen them at refuel
Seen it in a pphc bike that placed second

Pics are on the zero fb site.... Figured you all would be stirring the pot with this upgrade.... Wow im jealous if I only had two of thoes big fuckers i could easily make my next project

Talking about this bike?

Lots of changes on the bike.. not sure which "big fucker" you're referring to. Different wheels and brakes, steering damper, chain, rearsets..

Looks longer than usual,

there are 2 modules in every other fx ive seen
Besides one at refuel

LMAO

Needs the sr controller to actually be fast, the sr motor is just half of it....

No one even noticed the piles peak bikes battery; thats the more important part;

Unfortunantly Zero doesnt beleive in making fast bikes....

And well it wouldnt be profitable, but

Maybe once the batteries have reached 3.7 kwhs each and the fxs is 8.4 kwhs they will do the contoller and motor swap that the bike needs IMO until then... keep dreaming they save it for people like luke, ryan, arlin, stephan (doctorbass),
I guess they fail to relize that having a bike like that (sr powerplant)  in r&d for 3 years plus on/with the smaller batteries might be beneficial to their knowleage of what their batteries can ACTUALLY take....

Hint hint mr drake...... Maybe you will see this and sudgest a size 6 bike :)

The 2010s can be a pain in the but
Message me if you want some help if yu buy it;
You can always bypass most of the controls (remove the mbb and wire around it) and run the bike using just altrax like the electricrosses this works but will be quite "jerky" comparted to the new bikes and the mmb controlled version on low it will actually be a fun little pit bike

On high watch out its literally a death machine set off by the littlest throttle movement

Once the bypass is done in high the Throttle reasponce goes

Nothing
Everything
Tiny bit more
No matter how much you really move the throttle

When the bikes are updated sometimes you have to reload or re open the app, and sometimes if your app is not updated when you updated the bike it wont wont until you update the app

Thanks for all the advice.  It gives me some things to look for when I go do a demo ride (I currently live close to the Zero factory), and as my daughter does her Intro to Dirt class.  How much louder is the bike with the chain conversion?  I have demo'd the S and SR, and really liked the stealth aspect.
My current commute is 90 miles round trip on an SV650, mostly freeway, but my new commute will be 20-30 miles round trip with less freeway.  I've never ridden a dirt bike on the street, so I'm pretty naive in that aspect.  In what ways would an FX make the commute "suck" aside from tire wear?  I don't anticipate going any faster than cars since I'll be in state with no lane splitting and wouldn't be going out to ride the twisties.  I wouldn't have engine vibes from a single cylinder ICE bike.

Where do you live now? Im in santa cruz and have give you an instant comparison fx belt vs chain if you would like... Pm me

Be happy they would even take your mx.....  The deal if for street legal bikes only.... They told me to kick rocks a few times....

"But we are worried that in a massive power outage they wont be able to charge" god damn I haven't laughed that hard in a while....the power being off for more than 12 hrs for a whole city hasnt happened in my entire lifetime, one time pg&e failed their contract; my street and I were out of power for 48 hrs. Considering every police station has massive generators I think they could figure it out....

Why are purely gas people so damn dumb.....

Dual sports dont suck, they do have their moments when they shine, very wet paved roads, hard packed gravel fire roads

Yes street tires will handle better in the street and dirt will handle better on the dirt

Tou have to admit on the right bike such as the fx they can be pretty fun, ive done my fair share of street and off road riding in the fx wheels

I liked them for
- higher top speed than s wheels
- predictable sliding on both on and off road
Happy medium compared to completely one or the other

S tires are going to suck in the dirt way more than the dual sports, at least with the dual sports the front tire wont wash out as much

Fx and Chain kit but thats just me, the fxs will handle much better on the street so if your willing to sacrifice the dirt then I would get the fxs.

If you want to hit jumps and power out of them you need the chain kit

Of your willing to land the jumps (off the throttle )as to not break the belt then you can make the belt and jumps work, but I wouldn't recommend it Ive broke a few belts.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: No service manual available?
« on: May 04, 2016, 02:22:25 AM »
The encoder is all software related so you can log in and fuck your shit up.... This is why there are so many versions of the dongle

Basic
 dealer level logins
Hi level some code writing
Full access

(Just like toyota you can pay enough and get the login and dongle), some on here have a dongle and password, a few have a few different levels. But that still is not the dcf....

If you were to go through with an encoder setup and didnt know what you were doing or sidnt have full access you would brick your bike.... How does giving people access to that help zero, it ONLY gives them more issues....

If someone came on here and was like hey i have a fx it started acting funny wont charge and accelerates very slowly, then upon turning it off and then
on nothing.... Some can easily go through a list of things to do,

Depending on error code if any....

Check the sand filled fuses,
Probe the terminals on the battery to check fet

If specific problems were brought up they would and mostly do get answers, if your just probing for fun then why would they let you in.....

The basic owners manual does exist.  :p
