Your dream commuter?
« on: June 13, 2012, 02:20:54 AM »

The British publication, Motor Cycle News, is conducting a poll asking the question "What is your dream commuter" motorcycle.  They offer a number of high-end, very expensive, sport bike choices, none of which I would want to commute on.

So I went to the "other" option and guess what I said would be the perfect commuter?   ;D  That is going to drive them nuts.   :o

With options like the 8.0L Millyard Viper on the poll, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously ; )

Apparently not many people liked their specific choices. "Other" was by far the leading choice with 31% of the vote. I think the best commuter would be a larger scooter because of the built-in storage and very comfortable big-butt seat, but I guess technically that's not a motorcycle. A big Vespa would make a great commuter and still give good gas mileage.

This sounds more like "dream bike" than "dream commuter", because I'm really surprised a Panigale is beating the R1200GS. "Commuter" implies storage space, which the Panigale, nice a bike as it is, has none of, and not much provision for. For sucky roads, you'd want more suspension travel, too, I'd think.

Given that the first entry has such a physical gap after it in the list of votes it seems pretty obvious that it is being pushed to be the winner...
