Hi!
I have just received my new dsr 2020 a couple of days ago. The bike runs smooth and it looks good. I have not much experience with electric bikes but I have tested a DS and a SRF before.
When riding at low speed (30kmh) and accelerating slowly I notice some vibrations that comes from the battery zone but I can't feel them on the foot pegs. They sound loud but they go away when I keep accelerating. So it looks to me that they are sounding only at certain rpm's or speed (sympathetic vibrations?).
Is this normal? Do you feel the same on your S/SR/DS/DSR bikes? I have asked the local dealer but they say they tested the bike and everything looked normal. I will bring them the bike when I reach the 1000km and will insist on this subject but I want to be sure about what to say to them then.

They sound like vibrations to me. They are not always in the exact same place. It looks like chassis vibrations... thanks.

I have heard the same noise on my 2018 S occasionally. I have always felt that it was caused by a tight drive belt. In any case, the vibrations come and go (or maybe my ability to notice them comes and goes) and it doesn't seem to have any impact on the bike that I can tell. ???

I had the same experience as Richard with an over-tight drive belt fresh from the factory. Strange noises and a vibration that would occur only at certain (slow) road speeds. Loosened the belt a bit, still well within spec, and the noise and vibration went right away. Check your belt.

I'm not aware of vibrations per se except as a belt issue.

Do you have a sample of normal belt sounds?
Mine only groans in the rain.

Hi!
This is not the noise I am talking about (the whirring). Mine does it too and is totally normal. The noise I am listening only happens then the bike is accelerating from low speeds (5-10kmh) to medium speed (30-40kmh) and it happens only at certain rpm's and speeds (I don't know exactly which ones but they are between both mentioned speeds).
I am not a bike expert but it could be: something resonating at certain rpm's or belt issues. It happens only for 1 second or so, when you pass the speed margin it stops and the only thing that sounds are the normal zero's noises. (wheeltrain, wheels, brakes, ...)
It looks similar to the infamous groaning sound, but less loud and much shorter in time.

All of my motorcycles make strange noises while underway. My solution has always been to wear earplugs so that I can't hear the noise. If the noises get loud enough for me to hear while wearing earplugs then I become a little concerned. ;)

Haha, good one. I have just installed a bluetooth system in my helmet, and you are right, a little of heavy metal makes the noises go away xD

For what it’s worth, I’m trying to close a deal this week on a 2020 DSR, so hopefully I can reproduce it and document it soon.

Hey, nice bike you are dealing with :D
I have noticed that the noise is more noticeable when the belt is cold (I mean, when I start riding). After a few km the noise is almost gone, and if I park the bike at the sun it does not make the noise even for the first km.
Here it is cold (3-4ºC), and it is raining softly (When the dealer gave me the bike for the first time there was a heavy rain here). So maybe it is related to humidity and cold... and is nothing to worry about.
I am not a mechanical expert but everything looks more or less well adjusted.
Enjoy that DSR 2020, veeeery impressive machine ;) (ahh, you come from a 2016 dsr, so you know how this works)

There is a definite noise it makes - your new 2020 would be different thn my 2014 - but yes, as the belt gets wet or sticky it makes a weird thrum sound when under acceleration.

I agree that what you are describing is the typical new bike belt groan. There is plenty of information here on how to adjust and center the belt. You want to adjust the belt to the loosest end of the range and position it so there is about a 1mm gap between the belt and edge of the rear pulley. The groan seems to get more pronounced when it's wet. BTW, I have a 2017 DSR.
