Hey all.
I'm came out to ride my zero back home from  work but am getting a very strange and rather scary set of warning lights.

As said in title, after keying on, the warning light blinks twice, pause, blink again, then the headlight turns off and then back on, the charge light blinks, and then it starts again.

Anyone ever seen this? I'd like to make it the 22 miles home, but am worried about a breakdown.

Hi Hubert,

It's definitely not charging past 91%
At first I thought that maybe it was the natural degradation considering my mileage. I figured the display was showing 98% because of list capacity. Once or dropped to 91% I knew that want the case.

Another odd thing is that I can no longer set my custom mode on the app. Everytime I adjust a value it immediately returns to it's initial setting.
Very frustrating!

Thanks for the insight Ndm. I'll email zero my logs.

Thanks for all the help!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Battery no longer charging to 100%
« on: September 26, 2017, 03:54:31 AM »
Hi all,
I've searched the forums but I haven't found a case that seems to mirror mine so:
I have a 2014 SR with 19K miles on it. I ride 45 miles a day on average.  I usually charge at work and the standard charge is from 56% at arrival, to 100% at COB  eight hours later.
For the last two months my bike has decreased it's final SOC for an unknown reason. It was 98% at first but now the final SOC is regularly 91%. There are no other known issues with the bike.
I recently took it to the dealer, but they had no clue why it wouldn't charge to full. The Zero regional sales manager was there as well, but he was stumped.

Any ideas what could be causing this?
I have reset the BMS a few times to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys.
Been having and issue the last view days that has me perplexed.
In both Custom and Sport modes, the power delivery when twisting the throttle seems to cut in and out rapidly.
It causes a bucking feeling like your car when you have water in your gas or carburator issues. I've observed that, even when at a constant speed, say 50mph, the level indicators for both power and torque add and then subtract s bar every second or so, even with my hand maintaining the same throttle position.
This bucking issue does not seem to happen in Eco mode.

I'm hoping it's not a throttle issue. Could it be the BMS or Controller?
I'll try and download the logs asap (at work now).

Thanks!

Ended up placing an order with my local dealer. $90 (plus $8 shipping) for a belt. I hope it's made out of gold...

I almost fainted  :'(
I guess I have been too spoiled with lack of maintenance costs so far.

Is there a common mileage point where replacement of the belt is recommended?
I'm sure it's in the manual but I have lost mine  :-\

Model Year- 2014
Model- SR 11.4
Purchase date (mo/yr)- Oct '14
Mileage- 10,000
Modifications? If so, what? - none

Just hit 10K miles today!

I have a short somewhere that is causing my rear right turn signal to stop functioning.
One of the allen head bolts that holds the seat on is already stripped (think I have used it twice).
Other than that the bike has been super reliable.

That's horrible news  :'(
I'm speechless. I hope he can recover completely from this.

With all of the recent advancements in 3D printing we may be able to design and print our own fairings out before they are released by Zero.
Anyone have access to a nice print and design setup? :P

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Is 10% Federal Tax Credit Back?
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:25:10 PM »
I purchased my '14 SR in 2014 expecting the credit (not knowing it had expired). I talked with the salesman at the dealership and he printed out the tax credit eligibility form, that iirc, stated I was eligible.
I gave the information to our accountant and he later told me that the tax break had expired.

So, just for clarity here, amendment of the '14 tax return for a Zero purchased in '14, will actually work and I should get the refund that partially incentivized me to buy in the first place?

So while riding in to work today I noticed that my right turn signal is flashing faster than my Left. I don't remember this being the case before. Is this pointing to a problem with the fuse or a bulb? Thanks!

I saw that the charge tank is compatible with the '15 but does anyone know if it compatible with the '14? Would love to cut down on charging time even if it's only 3.8kW.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Traction Control works!
« on: October 08, 2015, 07:27:19 PM »
I actually washed out on some gravel a few months ago and traction control would have saved me. Was taking a 90 degree right hand turn at a light. Started to accelerate when straightening out and my rear hit a patch of gravel and started to slide out from under me. I attempted to turn the bars into the slide to counter, but then the rear caught traction again and the torque launched me forward into the curb at around 30mph. I wasn't hurt, but I sure was rattled!
