Charge at 7.3 kW at a single J-1772 station?

How much greater than the rated 6.6 kW can most J-stations charge before they trip the breaker? I could have sworn that I already saw the answer at some point on this forum, but my search has turned up nothing.

The reason I ask is that I’m wondering if my best bet for faster charging on my ‘17 Zero SR + 2.5 kW CT is to get a single 3.3 kW TC HK-J charger, plug it into the bike’s accessory port, and charge via the station’s J-cable into the charge tank at 7.3 kW (1.3 OBC + 2.5 CT + 3.3 HK-J). This would not require bringing extra cables, no need to connect a J-port to the external charger, and no switches to keep the bike charging while keyed off.

I find most J-plugs to be 30 amps (240VAC times 30 amps=7,200 watts). But some are a little less and some are a bit more.

I have seen quite a few clipper creek chargers on plugshare that are rated at 40A. Those will easily give the 7.3kW that you're looking for without tripping out the circuit breaker.

The 30A could work too as long as it's a 240v station. I have tripped out several chargepoint stations trying to pull 7.3kW from one port

IIRC. most ChargePoints are rated at 6.6 KW (27.5 amps).

Thanks guys! This is the kind of info I can't get anywhere else.

So my plan is no good then unless I limit the HK-J to less than the full 3.3 kW. Might as well get two of them since I'm going to need two stations anyway!
