"Clicking at low RPM".  This is how I would describe the loose fan I had in my motor.  Poke a screwdriver through the cooling holes and see if it's tight with the drive shaft.  Mine would wiggle back and forth about 15 degrees.   Warranty replacement around 1800 miles.

I experience the growl in wet conditions at low speeds, too.  It doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference in performance, but it makes me uncomfortable pushing the throttle hard.

I poked it with a key when i got home this morning but couldn't detect any play, will have a proper look at the weekend with decent lighting and the right tools.
