Title: Test-Ride Reservation
Post by: oobflyer on July 08, 2014, 09:46:57 AM
I made a reservation to test-ride the electric Harley-Davidson. They aren't coming to my area until October, so it'll be a bit of a wait, but really looking forward to it   :)

How did you make this I didn't know you had to have a reservation ?

I went to the Harley Livewire website - found when they were scheduled to a demo close to where I live in California - contacted the Harley dealership and asked them if they could put me on their list. They said, "Sure, we'll put you on the list". I'm sure their list will fill up pretty quickly, but with a three months advanced notice I didn't have any problem.

Don't worry - I'll be sure to ask about the greenhouse gas emission reduction of the electric Harely ;-)

"Don't worry - I'll be sure to ask about the greenhouse gas emission reduction of the electric Harely ;-)" Thanks you are all heart LOL. Id like to know if any hardcore Harley people are showing interest. They will be a hard group to get to electric.

I've talked to a handful of Harley riders that have expressed interest in electrics following the Livewire introduction, including a couple that had ridden down from Boston on "his and hers" H-D bikes this morning and were checking out my bike. The Livewire concept is definitely getting attention.

The tour is scheduled to stop in Nashville in late August. Will swing by the Nashville H-D dealer and see if I can get a ride invitation.

FWIW, I wasn't on any list when I got to Milwaukee, but still got to ride about 4 hours after I arrived by putting my name on the waiting list. It worked out because it gave me enough time to leave and get a charge. I would expect smaller turnouts going forward, too.

I just got the call, I'm scheduled to ride a Livewire this Thursday afternoon. Woot!

I'm pretty disappointed with the way they ran this thing. I signed up for "more info" the day they announced the LW project, signed up for a test ride months ago when I'd found that they released an Austin, TX ride date and location, even went through Ted Dillard's back channels, and heard absolutely nothing (except generic "buy a DynaGlide" promotional spam) from them until today, two days before the demo event, via a random middle of the workday phone call from a Ft. Meyers, FL phone number. I don't know anyone in Florida, I almost didn't answer the call! What gives, H-D?

Anyway, despite my disappointment with the program, I'm gonna' go ahead and ride one anyway.  ;)  Any requests? I'll probably be running video if I can get the helmet mount set up... I understand that they discourage wheelies and burnouts though...
