Title: SR/F insurance
Post by: Bill822 on April 27, 2019, 08:13:02 PM
Progressive doesn't have the SR/F in their tables yet. Has anyone actually received a quote for the SR/F yet?

I had to hold State Farm by the hand and pull up the Zero webpage to get them to just kind of push it though with my older Zero's.

Progressive never could give me a quote but I think others on here have it through them.  Depends on who's looking it up I guess.
Tell them it's a $20k bike that goes under 130MPH with 0cc that might help.  :)

Geico needed a little handholding too, but once I emailed them, it went through

For anyone in the UK currently looking for SR/F insurance, Lexham is a great place to look as they know all about the bike.

I got in touch with more insurances today and finally managed to get a full-coverage offer for around 350 € / year (germany)
There is also an option to get a full buy price refund in the first 2 years if you manage to completely kill the bike. Still waiting for confirmation from insurance but the price they told me on the phone would be somewhere between 400-450 €.
The cheapest insurance plans i have seen so far (just liability insurance) start at 150€.
Need to add that i am older than 25 years and have owned bikes and cars for a few years, so might be more expensive if you are younger.

I am a Progressive customer.  I have had a policy with them for some years since my auto insurance company does not cover motorcycles.
I called them to confirm that I could get coverage for the SR/F
They said Yes, they do cover that model.  The have to enter information manually for the policy since the new model has not yet made it through their new model process.
When the dealership calls me to tell me my pre-order has been delivered, I will get the VIN and call Progressive back.  I will change my policy to the new bike and be covered before I roll off the lot.
The cost of coverage for the SR/F is about 45% more than coverage for my Goldwing.  I had full coverage for the Goldwing, and it was more expensive that the SR/F when I got it new.  But it was 12 years old with 100k+ miles, so theft and comprehensive were lower.  Plus, it is a Grandpa bike.  :)

So, short story is Progressive will cover the SR/F
