Alta Motorcycles / Re: Who Killed Alta?
« on: February 20, 2022, 11:17:36 PM »
The Alta was a very high quality and capable moto bike.  I even thought the price (high) was justified based on all of the R & D the mighty little company did.  I test rode the Supermoto model on the streets of SF courtesy of SF BMW which was a dealer at the time-- what a rush.  I was all set to buy one when the bottom fell out.  Very sad story, top notch engineering gone to waste.  AND FortNine is right as usual....

General Discussion / Re: PG&E power rate increase rant
« on: November 04, 2021, 09:36:43 PM »
I feel your pain brother....  We are paying for all of the fire damage that PG&E is on the hook for....  AND now they are talking about suing PG&E for scheduled power outages causing traffic accidents due to signal failures !!!!  AND don't get me going on property taxes or water rape !!!!  NOT my America....

Pics and Vids / Re: Northern California International motorcycle show
« on: July 19, 2021, 06:03:18 AM »
Zero was well represented at the Northern California International motorcycle show held at the Sears Point Raceway this weekend. They had a large selection of motorcycles that were available for test rides. Attached is a photo of their display.

Well done Zero....

I wear ear plugs on all of my bikes, to include electric, to save my hearing.  Even with the best of helmets you will receive way too much wind noise, etc. at higher speeds.  AND you can still hear horns and screeching tires just fine.  Your belt noise will also become quite reasonable....

I am a huge fan of the FortNine....  His stuff is generally filled with science, funny and spot on....  I find his latest video on electric motorcycles to be exceedingly accurate too....  AND I am a huge fan of the electric motorcycle....  Tesla made the world believe, Live Wire has not....

Energica / Re: To oil chain--The Pittstop Groller
« on: June 06, 2021, 05:08:44 AM »
I'd go with Pit Bull front and rear stands....  Very high quality and well designed....  Pit Bull doesn't have a listing for an Energica front stand, but it is probably just a question of measuring for the proper pin #....  Very important, never try to lift with a front stand unless the rear is already up on a rear stand !!!!  You need the triangulation for stability (center stand would also work)....

Don't forget Indian !!!!  Maybe we should put a 50% tariff on BMW, Ducati, KTM, Husky and Triumph....  Let the games begin....

General Discussion / Re: Belt vs Chain vs Shaft final drives
« on: March 26, 2021, 09:29:40 PM »
I found the final drive video to be highly factual....  I am interested in the new Regina chains as well....  They certainly will not be maintenance free however....  They will have to be cleaned just like current chains to keep the wearing grunge/abrasives off of the chain rollers and sprocket teeth....  The worst part of chain maintenance, spraying on a little lube was always easy....  I have had all of these drive systems....  I still prefer belt drive on street bikes for all around happiness !!!!

Totally agree....  That 30 kilos trimmed off would probably also give them that .2 seconds from 0>60 mph....

Nelson-Rigg for sure in the garage....  Get a 1/2 cover, only go down the bike half way....  I use them on all my bikes in the garage....  Very easy on and off,....  stops the dust because it comes from above....  Highly recommended....
