I received the recall notice today in the mail for this fault. It's too bad it was never repaired while I owned the bike. I've PM'd the new owner...

Get in contact with Zero, if it's the 2-4 code they'll likely remotely diagnose it as a bad BMS board based on your observations/testing. The also probably know the range of serial numbers affected, as part of their NHTSA recall procedure: NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V310000

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Finally an improved warranty for 2014

I paid an extra $700 for a 7-year warranty on my Triumph and never used it.   ::)

Frankly, I can't recall a motorcycle that I have owned within the past 40 years that had a problem after the first year of ownership that could have been resolved by a longer warranty.

For the opposite POV I never had a bike that required warranty fixes at all until my XU, and that was only in the 2nd year of ownership...

2012 Zero XU here. I check for leaking fork seals before each ride, no problems yet. No "glitch" yet either, but it looks like I have to put on a lot more miles before that has the potential to appear.

 :-\
Man what a difference one year makes. It's not just miles you have to look out for, but also as the components age. I had about 3 weeks of riding with my XU this year, between waiting for a BMS repair from APR-JUL and then waiting for the "glitch" repair from JUL to now...

Tentatively sold if it ever gets repaired...

No dealers for Brammo in Canada, I doubt they're been vetted by Transport Canada...

Around 1800 KM. Mine's an early build, one of the 1st XU's in Canada for 2012.

Not yet. Zero has a software upgrade available (tested on a Florida bike, glitches stopped), but my local dealer is undergoing a change in ownership and not taking on work at the moment.

TD would not insure my XU they said it was on their Un-insurable list, Royal Bank wouldn't insure me even though they are my insurance company. They require I had two years of bike insurance in the last 6 years but i haven't had a bike for 10 years. Even though I had my Bike licence and a good record for 30 years. Found these guys Eisenhauer Insurance Inc. they worked out good Rate was 220.00 PLPD, no collusion.

Jerry in Nova Scotia

Just for comparison/information, TD/Meloche Monnex in Ontario will insure Zero's. Sounds like province-to-province the insurable list might vary.

EDIT: looks like I've said that one before, I'm beginning to sound like a broken record...
